We are all guilty of it. We tend to put ourselves last on the to-do list. What we often fail to realize is what we are taking away from our own health, wellness, sanity, and happiness.
There is no reason that self-care needs to be 1. a big lengthy type of event or 2. something we feel guilty about and 3. something that is seldom and/or non-existent!
We cannot fully and functionally take care of others if we cannot first take care of ourselves. It's so true! Burn out is real. Stress is real. If we continue to go down this path of self-destruction, we are not only hurting ourselves, but we are hurting those around us---and HELLO!! The whole point of us getting so stressed out is because we want to avoid hurting those who matter most to us.
Here's the thing... we can only handle so much before we break. When we break, everything else around us breaks. Same is true when we take care of our mental health and well-being.
Stop feeling guilty for taking the necessary time to be with yourself! We all need it, and you are no different. Stop talking yourself out of it or saying you are a bad person for thinking about yourself. You are being anything but selfish!
Don't let your tower become so weak it falls over time and time again. While building is tenacious and empowering... you can only keep building the same failed structure time and time again before you hit a breaking point. Step back, re-evaluate, recharge, and see it through with a new perspective and attitude!

Homeschooling.
It's on the rise, all thanks to COVID. While some families have been left no other choice, other families are exploring the flexibility, choices, and quality of options for their child's education.
Obviously homeschooling isn't a new idea; however, it is becoming more main stream. Which is great because there are a lot more resources and communities who are embracing homeschool families. Now is the best time to delve into the world of homeschooling... but how?
I'm sure that is one of many questions, naturally. We are going to throw it all out on the table today as I share our personal experience with homeschooling for the last 2 years. Mind you, neither my husband and I were homeschooled and we didn't start fresh; we started with our 14 year old daughter who was entering the 8th grade (YIKES!)
Suffice it to say, it was a successful year and we are happily going at it again, having mixed up the curriculum a bit (one of the perks of homeschooling) and continue to be satisfied with our decision to homeschool for the 2nd year. Our 15 year old daughter who is now a freshman has also actually embraced it.
It's not as hard as you think, the steps are in place, and it's actually fun picking and choosing and tailoring an education for child based on their interests, learning styles, and values. We will for sure be doing the same for our son who is 3 and is also enjoying his "schooling"

We can't exactly take a girls trip to Target together, but sometimes just being chill, lounging with a drink in hand, chatting it up together is all the therapy we need :)

We are all busy and time gets away from us so easily these days; the days are long but the years are short...
Why not take a little extra time with those you love the most this weekend. If you don't have kiddos, maybe spend a little extra time spoiling your fur babies.
It's easy to get wrapped up in the day to day and we look back and wish we had more time. This weekend is that time; no regrets, just quality time!

All too often we find our minds going to a negative place when it comes to our bodies. It's so easy to pick out our flaws. There are days when we are feeling ourself, but then the next day we are grabbing at our rolls, sucking in our bellies, and imaging what a dose of Botox would do to our wrinkles.
It's HARD. SO HARD! To just accept ourselves for where we are, because even on our best day, we still want to look and feel better. It takes time and it takes more than just a diet and exercise to boost your confidence.
I know it sounds confusing, but you need to learn to love yourself right where you are; flaws and all, before you will ever begin to find the confidence you are looking for. You have to train your mind even harder than you have to train your body to see results!
How many times do you stand in the mirror and have a shame-fest with yourself? That has nothing to do with your physical appearance. It's all in your head. We have to change our thinking around our bodies and our health.
Then and only then, will we start to make progress to see the results we are looking for, promise!

I believe in body confidence and the importance of overall health and wellness. When we are comfortable in our skin, we feel motivated and capable of becoming comfortable in other areas of our life; relationships, finances, parenting, etc.

Why do we feel guilty when we want to treat ourselves? We often find ourselves making excuses, talking ourselves out of it, or we just feel like if we indulge, we are going backwards...
NOT TRUE! Life is too short not to! We can't expect to make the progress we need, physically and mentally, if we let ourselves think that breaking the rules now and again is bad.
I know, it's hard. When you feel like you're on track with your health and fitness the last thing you want to do is "ruin" it. Let me tell ya, an ice cream cone or candy bar once and awhile isn't going to "ruin" anything. If anything, you're going to lose your sanity for always telling yourself "No" and "you can't."
It's okay to enjoy yourself and the pleasures of life. It's only when we deprive ourselves that we start to lose control, not the other way around! So go ahead; give yourself permission to indulge a little this weekend. You don't need any other reason than, you can, you deserve to, and it's all going to be okay!
