After a far too long pause, KP and Stevo get back on the mic and re-connect with each other and discuss the meaning of connection and reconnection that exists in our friendships, relationships, personal lives and with the space we take up in this world. Enjoy!
Fear. Courage. Hide. Seek. How able are we to open ourselves up to being wounded? What is our vulner-ability? And what happens when we step across the line and invite courage over fear? In this epi, Steve and KP battle bouts of nausea as they trade arrows discussing what parts of life they have felt wide open, how they've over come it, and how they've failed in the face of it. Key takeaway: win or lose, you learn. Enjoy!
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. Reactivity. Breaking. Healing. Starting. Ending. Rinse & Repeat.
"...For the times they are a-changin'"... but how often do we realize it? In this epi KP and Steve go into each others minds about how they've encountered change, from heartbreak to bodily ache, to routine and everything in between. Philosophizing on 'where does change go' inspired by the mind of Alan Watts and a few magical words from a David Whyte poem hopefully this epi will help you 'turn and face the strange'.
Friendships. Loveships. Relationships. Heart make and heart break. Oooweee.
Love...the same drug that can send us to the moon and can cause worlds to crash down. In this epi KP and Steve explore their own journeys of the heart and mind to understand what it means to relate: in loveships, friendships and to the one driving this journey – the self.
"All these places have their moments, with lovers and friends I still can recall, some are dead and some are living, in my life I've loved them all." - The Beatles 'In my Life'
The power of discipline, focus and commitment to progression.
In this episode, we had the pleasure of diving IN2 the mind of our second guest, Shannon Karaka. Shannon is self-proclaimed “Mozzie” (Half Maori, Half Australian). He’s a fashion entrepreneur, sales guru, pageant winner and recently a TV personality.
We dive into Shannon’s upbringing and the importance his family placed on education. Shannon discusses his heritage and why he felt distant from this growing up. We also hear the inspiring story behind the Mr Polynesia contest, mental health awareness within his community and the reasons he started his Hawaiian shirt company.
He’s more than just red roses and great hair, he’s full of personality, mana and a zest for life that will want you asking for more. Thanks for the laughs and inspiration - Kia Kaha Shan!!
In our last episode, we went deep IN2 Tra-ills mind, but the conversation doesn't end there. REWIND 2 REMIND is how we keep the conversation alive, marinate in the ideas we learned and try to make sense of them by going back IN2 the minds of KP and Steve. By rewinding the ideas Tra-ill shared we remind ourselves of what they mean, how they landed, and how we can take them with us to make the most of this knowledge we were lucky enough to witness.
Thanks T!
Education. Ideas. Rights. Practice. Discipline. Life & Death.
We set our 'minds on fire' with our first I2M guest: the philosopher, teacher, psychotherapist, martial artist and mentor, Dr Tra-ill Dowie PhD. With over 36 years of educational experience including dual PhD's, we got first class tickets IN2 Tra-ill's mind and journeyed through the formulation, release and power of ideas and rights, what transformative education means, the power in practice and discipline and Tra-ill's own life and death exprience. We cannot wait to have him back on.
Thank you, Tra-ill.
Therapy. Self discovery. Mental health awareness and what it means to ask for help. This I2M episode plunges into the fears and social stigmas about therapy and how it can be understood as an organisation of ones mind. Through the personal experiences Steve and Kieran have both had as clients and as students, this epi concentrates on bringing mental health awareness out of the invisible and explores the joy that discovering ones own mind can bring.
A whole year off the pi$$, you have to be joking mate!
Alcohol is the social lubricant we all know and love but what happens when we change our relationship with it?
In this episode, KP and Steve dig into their journeys with the drink, how it shaped their upbringing and the impact it had on their social lives. They discuss the social pressures and society’s dependence on booze, yet touch on the joy and social benefit it can bring by getting loose with your mates.
KP dives into why he chose to take a whole year of the grog and the lads discuss their transformation from pints every weekend in London to waking up fresh – most of the time.
Stress. Feeling overwhelmed. Feeling underwhelmed. Uncertainty in the path we have chosen. Feeling unfulfilled and unsure what to do about it.
Episode 1 of the IN2MINDS Podcast cracks into all of these themes that many of us suffer with – silently. In this epi Steve examines how these problems created a poison he was feeding himself with a realisation he needed to start from scratch. The 5 course meal is a metaphorical idea about balancing the plates of life that we serve ourselves (job, relationship, hobbies, expectations) and that we subsequently serve to anyone else who sits at our life’s table. There are main courses, side dishes, appetisers and desserts all of which Steve and KP explore different ways to serve these dishes and even take some ingredients from each other’s kitchen. Bon appétit!
