3:05pm: On Monday, in the Capitol Rotunda, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. The ceremony was moved indoors due to frigid temperatures. In his inaugural address, President Trump declared January 20th, 2025- “Liberation Day.” He also pledged usher in a golden age for America.
3:10pm- Prior to leaving office, President Joe Biden issued a series of preemptive pardons for five of his family members, Gen. Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and members of the House committee investigating January 6—including Rep. Jamie Raskin and former Congressmembers Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney.
3:15pm- In a clip from December 2020, Joe Biden told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he would not issue any preemptive pardons as president.
3:30pm- During his inaugural address, President Donald Trump declared that it will be official American policy to recognize “only two genders—male and female.” He also pledged to focus on meritocracy and pivot away from the prioritization of far-left policies like diversity, equity, and inclusion (D.E.I.).
3:40pm- According to reports, President Donald Trump is expected to sign as many as 200 executive orders on Day 1 of his presidency. The orders will address border security, domestic energy production, and ending D.E.I. policies.
3:50pm- During the inaugural lunch, President Donald Trump toasted speakers and guests with a glass of Diet Coke while others in attendance used champagne. Speaking of Diet Coke, Attorney & Pennsylvania Election Integrity Counsel for the Republican National Committee Linda Kerns managed to get a bottle of “Commemorative Inaugural Diet Coke” for Matt! Last week, Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey presented Trump with the special bottle.
4:05pm- Over the weekend, Saturday Night Live mocked the far-left hosts of MSNBC for overreacting to Donald Trump’s presidency. Meanwhile, Jon Stewart grilled Democrats for focusing on the immutable characteristics of party members instead of actual policy.
4:10pm- On HBO’s Real Time, Bill Maher addressed the wildfires in Los Angeles. Gov. Gavin Newsom has pledged to figure out why there were so many malfunctioning fire hydrants throughout LA—Maher noted this should have been investigated BEFORE the fires.
4:15pm- A report from Austyn Jeffs of The Free Press documents how Los Angeles officials have allowed for their fire departments to fall into a state of disrepair—documenting collapsing ceilings, broken doors, and dangerous mold.
4:30pm- According to reports, the United State Senate will consider the Laken Riley Act before voting for Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio and CIA Director nominee John Ratcliffe on Monday. In order to be granted speedy consideration, the Senate needs unanimous agreement before voting on the nominations.
5:05pm- The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has unanimously approved Marco Rubio’s nomination to serve as Secretary of State. Rubio expected to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate later tonight.
5:10pm- New York Times: Biden was Protected by Inner Circle. According to The New York Times, six members of Joe Biden’s inner circle protected the “faltering” president and shielded the press from witnessing his physical and cognitive decline. 5:40pm- Is there an internal war within the Democrat Party? According to Politico, the feud between Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and the Biden family continues to rage on—stemming from the former Speaker’s insistence that Biden remove himself from the 2024 presidential race.
