When you begin to notice changes in your child’s behavior, what should you do? We're joined by two Board Certified Behavioral Analysts who discuss the best way to intervene and provide the necessary help.

With the Trump administration and several members of Congress, including Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, considering assembling a proposed Federal Commission on School Safety to repeal 2014 guidelines regarding school disciplinary action, we thought it would be important to take a closer look at how any changes in these disciplinary actions could disproportionately affect children of color and children living with disabilities.

With a proposed Federal Commission on School Safety assembly on the horizon and a potential repeal of current guidelines on school safety and discipline, we’re taking a closer look at how any such changes affect children living with disabilities and children of color.

We're exploring a resource that can be helpful for new parents, especially new moms, in our audience. The resource is an app called Pacify and in this episode, we're chatting with the Chief Clinical Officer of Pacify - Melanie Silverman. Pacify is a paid phone application which provides unlimited, video-enabled, 24/7 access to Pediatric Nurses, Registered Dietitians, and Lactation Consultants. 

Melanie joins us to highlight the features of this app and to explain how new moms can get many of their lactation and nutrition questions answered and needs met via the app.

We’re exploring a resource that many new moms will be happy to know about, especially if they have concerns regarding breastfeeding and nutrition.

Recognizing the existence of an eating disorder in an adolescent is important in providing necessary help and support. But what should parents and teachers be looking for to make the determination? And if a problem does exist, what’s the best way to start the dialogue with the adolescent about seeking help? These are certainly tough conversations.

In this episode, we’re joined by Jen Teutscher, program director at Shoreline Center for Eating Disorder Treatment in Laguna Hills, Ca and Anna Jones, the primary therapist at the Center. Jen and Anna share their advice on how to best help children with eating disorders.

Since 1995, the Shoreline Center for Eating Disorder Treatment has successfully been helping individuals achieve recovery from anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder for both men and women. We offer personalized, compassionate programs, delivered by highly-trained and experienced eating disorder experts, many of whom are recovered themselves.

What are common signs to look for to determine if an adolescent has an eating disorder? How can a parent or teacher provide the necessary support and care at home and at school? We’re joined by representatives from Shoreline Center for Eating Disorder Treatment to discuss what you can do.

Reading disabilities like dyslexia are varied and appear in different children differently, so it’s important to understand and be aware of the signs of these learning disabilities.

We’re joined by licensed speech and language pathologist, Cathy Johnson. When Cathy discovered her young daughter was having difficulty learning how to read, she wanted to ensure her daughter received the attention and help she needed. Not finding much assistance out there, Cathy traveled all over the US seeking training in how she can better help children with learning disabilities.

She later founded the Johnson Academy, which offers an alternative to the one-size-fits-all learning approach. Cathy also runs the Speech, Language, and Learning Center.
