The concept of an electricity bill based on your tax bracket is entirely foreign to the American consumer experience. It might smack of an invasion of privacy. Big Brother even. So of course, California is going to implement one for those who get their electricity from investor-owned utilities such as PG&E and Southern California Edison. Hollywood studios will get a lucrative tax benefit they have long sought and workers on film productions will get new safety protocols they’ve wanted since the deadly “Rust” shooting under new legislation that Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to sign into law by the end of this week. The California reparations task force is scheduled to submit its final report to the Golden State legislature this week after years of deliberation.
