Increased fines and even penalty points are being tipped as potential solutions to stop motorists illegally parking in Clare’s disabled bays.
Although the total number of parking fines issued countywide dropped by a third last year, the number of fixed charged notices for parking in a disabled bay without a valid permit went up by more than 9% in Ennis alone.
It was also the most common offence in Kilrush accounting for one in three fines there last year.
Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan has been speaking to business owners and the Clare Leader Forum about the parking matter, but began with Kilrush Independent Councillor Ian Lynch.
