Gary Saul Morson is the Lawrence B. Dumas Professor of the Arts and Humanities and Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Northwestern University. Saul’s work ranges from literary theory, the history of ideas, and the relation between literature and philosophy in the works of Chekov, Dostoevsky, and Tolstoy.
