Andrew Godfrey, formerly of the Nashville, Tennessee band "Navaeh," phoned in to discuss in great detail his desert doom-rock project "Transylvania Stud."  Godfrey will be putting out his new album "White Witch" on October 31st, and let me tell you, I was pumped to get to hear and review the whole thing with him, track by track, before it even comes out.  It's super good, and Godfrey is a super down to Earth guy, and an easy conversation.   

It was a pleasure to randomly meet Dustin Rye, guitarist and lead singer of the Nashville based band "Them Fixes" while covering a music festival just outside of Clarksville, Tennessee called "Possumstock."  Dustin and drummer Shawn Jones make up the 2 piece hard rock band, and let me tell you, they can and will rock your socks off.  Dustin phoned in to fill me in on the band's history, what makes them unique, and to also talk about and review together their 2019 EP "Electric Prophetic," which I cannot get enough of!

From Nashville, Tennessee, "The Weird Sisters" fill our eardrums with some wicked good tunes for this episode of indie-vidually.  They're a four piece psychedelic funk-rock group comprised of members Izaac Short, Gabrielle Lewis, Jeff Brown, and Caitlyn Crawley.  Founding members Gabrielle and Izaac phoned in to record this interview with me, as we discussed their brand new self-titled album, which is nothing short of fantastic.   

I was invited to attend a music festival outside of Clarksville, TN, called Possumstock, which was held August 30th and 31st of 2019.  Cody Parson, its founder, and one of the hardest working independent/DIY musicians that does the thing, reached out to me, and I humbly accepted the invitation.  While there on the grounds, I had the privilege to interview several bands including Bark, Gravity Cosmonaut, Shirk, Weird Green Lemon, The Nashville Front Disco, all being Clarksville based bands, Daywaster from Paducah, KY, and Maewyn out of Murray, KY.  I was able to get some live tracks from some of these bands via the 2 guys running sound, Andrew Uher, and Edison Vidro, and some on my own, but for the bands I was unable to get live tracks from and just interviews, I am featuring 2 studio recorded tracks they have provided me with following each interview.  This was an experiment, and I admit that going in I was nervous, overthinking how it would turn out, seeing as though it had been years since I had done a field interview.  Needless to say, it turned out to be a very positive experience, and one I am hoping to repeat next year when I return to Possumstock 2020.  Enjoy the following interviews, and especially check out each and every band you hear on indie-vidually today! 

For this special edition of indie-vidually, I catch up with Whiskey Angel front man and guitarist Cody Parson, who is my co host, as we discuss and preview music from bands that will be playing at Possumstock 2019.  Possumstock is a weekend-long festival of music and camping located in Clarksville, Tennessee, and is tons of fun.  For this podcast, we feature music from bands such as Daywaster, Bark, Gravity Cosmonaut, Maewyn, and Weird Green Lemon.This is the first of two episodes, this one being the Possumstock 2019 Preview Sampler, and for the second, I will also be covering the event itself, interviewing bands and doing a recap and follow-up episode.  Cody is the founder of Possumstock, and wants you to come check out the action this upcoming weekend, August 30th and 31st!  

If you live around Paducah, Kentucky, and are familiar with its local music scene, it's likely you have heard of, or at least caught my guest Chris Black live in some capacity. A native of Salem, Illinois, Black is no stranger to crafting some tasty, energetic blues rock music, but that isn't necessarily the case for his newest record, "230 West Allmon St. Apt A."  This album is the sister to his 2017 album "230 West Allmon St. Apt B," and is much different tonally, lyrically, and especially at its core, where Chris, a master of double entendre, exposes the rawest parts of his soul to the listener.  I loved Chris's honesty, and definitely connected to his sense of humor.

Refractions is a band from Louisville, Kentucky, that mixes progressive rock, R&B, jazz, pop, and indie, to form their own unique sound.  The band consists of Adam Johnson on drums, Taylor Lin on lead guitar, Jordan Simms on guitar, and Devon O'Dell on bass.  Refractions are all under 20 years of age, but don't let that fool you, these dudes know how to bring the vibes, and can really craft some grooves.  They recently released an album called "Paramind" this year, and are already hard at work recording what will become a new EP.  We spoke about a few tracks off of "Paramind," and they also sampled a clip of their new single "Tulips."

I had a rather lengthy conversation with Jared Hiebert from New Age Love for this episode.  New Age Love is based in parts of Texas and Kentucky, and is a rock and roll project.  Jared and I discussed the new album "Decadent Fruit," which was recorded over four years in various apartments across Austin, Texas.  I loved Jared's honesty, and of course the album itself.

Vena Cava is a progressive instrumental rock band out of Lexington, Kentucky.  I had the pleasure of interviewing Adam Potter who plays drums and guitarist Kyle Wipert for this edition of the podcast.  Absent was one of the founding members, Josh Clouse, who couldn't make it the day we recorded.  Vena Cava is a diverse band that isn't afraid to experiment and implement various genres to create some very interesting and just plain groovy instrumental rock music.  We talked about their album "Ethos," as well as their upcoming release "Coalesce."

I had a great interview with The Cuttin Jessies, a two piece folk-rock duo from Metropolis, Illinois.  The band is comprised of Steven Phalen and Luke Taylor, two very laid back and down to Earth gentlemen.  We rambled on about some funny topics, how long the two have known each other, and how their friendship and music are intertwined.  They released their first EP, "The Cuttin Jessies," back in 2014, which we discuss in detail on the podcast.
