Sometimes the bands I interview here on Indie-vidually surprise me, impress me, and really get me thinking deeply, and William Stellium is no exception.  They label themselves Psychedelic Funk Rock, and take influence from many musical genres.  Calling Paducah their hometown, William Stellium is also known for awesome light shows, and groovy vibes shared all around by members Joshua Cornelius, Randon Gardner, Israel Abernathy and just recently added, Alex Riley.  

There's just some bands that cut through the mix for me, so to speak, and my friends in Maewyn are one of those.  Hailing from Western Kentucky, Murray more specifically, Maewyn does their thing, and they do it well.  If you are into great music with inspired emotion, check them out.  They just released their new EP "Wilt" on March 15th, and even though I just had them on the show at the end of February, I wanted to discuss the new album at length, so we did.

Whiskey Angel is a rock and roll band from Clarksville, Tennessee.  I spoke to Cody Parson, guitarist and vocalist, and Kirk Sumner who plays drums, about their album "Problems," which was recorded in 2018 to 2 inch tape in Nashville, Tennessee, and released on Halloween 2018.

I had a great interview with Murray, Kentucky alternative emo rock band Maewynn.  They're a relatively young band, having only been doing it together since 2017.  Recently, they released a new single called "With Long Teeth" close to the time of this recording on February 22nd.  In addition to the single, I talked to the band about a myriad of topics, and I have to say, these guys are fun to talk to.

Silent Monolith is a doom and slacker rock band from Nashville, Tennessee and is comprised of guitar player and vocalist Kenneth Johnson, or "KJ" for short, lead guitarist Shania Blake, and Nate Davenport on bass.  Silent Monolith was formed in 2011, and show no signs of slowing down yet.  I spoke to KJ about their 2015 album "Another Way to Fly," as well as some pretty hard hitting and honest topics.  With influences such as Black Sabbath, Clutch and Fu Manchu, Silent Monolith crafts some honest, heavy hitting tunes.

Art Thieves is a four piece instrumental band that can be described as sludge-like, post-rock with heavy metal instrumentation.  Founded in 2013 in Paducah, KY, Art Thieves have been doing their thing uniquely for many years within that local music scene, seeing as though not many instrumental bands exist in the area.  The band consists of David Cox on guitar, Jacob McCallon (who was absent at the time of recording the podcast) on guitar, Travis Russel on bass, and Stephen Keith on the drums.  We talked about their latest December 2018 release "Art Thieves Live" recorded live by Randon Gardner of Ear Candy Audio at Dry Ground Brewery in Paducah in late 2017.

I am truly impressed each and every time I interview a band on my show, and King Krater is no exception.  They are a psychedelic blues rock trio from Paducah, Kentucky with some seriously groovy tunes.  I spoke to Trevor English and Jon Grace (absent was Josh Hinton) about their 2017 EP "Lunar Musings."

Ronnie and Shana McCoy of The Hi Fi Ninja (Snubbed Records) phoned in to indie-vidually the other day as we talked about their fantastic new album "Tattered and Torn."  Ronnie plays guitar and is lead vocals, Shana plays bass and Jerry Davis plays the drums and sings backup.  They are a 3 piece rock band out of Paducah, KY, and have been around since 2007, having released 4 albums prior to 2018's Tattered and Torn.  We talk about everything from dad bods to politics, and even discuss cucumbers that are placed in interesting areas...

For my second episode of indie-vidually, I spoke to Phlecia and Josh Sullivan of the rock and roll band "Year of October."  The two awesome aforementioned musicians met while attending college at the University of Kentucky in 2010.  Starting out as an acoustic act comprised of just the two of them, they eventually evolved into a full band.  They have three records total, including "Stories" released in 2012, "Golden Days" in 2015, and the record featured on this edition of the podcast "Trouble Comes" in (of course) October of 2017.  The record features riffy blues rock goodness, soulful/deep lyrics and vocals, and pristine audio production.  We talk shop, writing influences, briefly touch on some film classics, and they share some funny stories.  It was a pleasure to interview Phlecia and Josh!  You can find them on social media, and if you want some merch, go to https://yearofoctober.bandcamp.com/

My good friends in Bantha Tracks did a phone interview with me last weekend to discuss and analyze their upcoming full length album called "Together By Ourselves," which they recorded at Loud and Clear Studios is Paducah, Kentucky.  I have history with all these guys, and was in a band called Traveling Light with the bass player, Mason Henry.  Bantha Tracks are an alternative rock trio who hail from the small college town of Murray, KY.  Originally from separate hometowns and backgrounds, Bantha Tracks were first friends with similar musical inspirations of bands like Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Radiohead.  Friendship soon turned into a mission to write and craft music together.  Their first full length LP release, "Together by Ourselves", is due to drop by the end of 2018.
