Inide the SCCA | Cars, Cameras and a New Heart with James Candelaria
Episode 146 of Inside the SCCA is one that hits home. I've always said that racing is a big family... and that family crosses over from series to series. A couple of months ago one of our races went through a medical crisis and his two racing families SCCA and ChampCar watched as he fought back. James Candelaria -- Corvette racer and owner of the company that created the Sentinel Camera system needed a new heart. He and his wife documented the whole journey on their Facebook page and racers from both series chimed in with love and support. James got his new heart and he joined us this week for a simulcast of Inside the SCCA and Inside ChampCar. His story is remarkable. Also remarkable... what his doctors had to say when he told them he wanted to get back in a race car!

As a journalist he’s worked in news in network staff positions with CNN and CBS and local news in seven markets from LaCrosse, Wisconsin to New York and Los Angeles. In 2009 he founded RacingWire, one of the first web-only motorsports news services given credentialed access at NASCAR, IndyCar, and NHRA events. He currently hosts several podcasts including “Inside the SCCA” and is an editor/producer for KNX 97.1FM NewsRadio in Los Angeles.
