Billy Batson is a foster kid who has had a hard life. He is also a huge jerk. But like all good heroes, he learns from his jerkish ways and after being given extrodinary powers by a wizard and eventually fighting a supervillain. It's a tale as old as time.

This week Kieran and Jonah dive into SHAZAM! Origins, which is a collection of backup stories that are a modern retelling of the character who, for legal reasons, can no longer be called Captain Marvel. Also a quick heads up; If you haven't watched the SHAZAM! movie and don't want any spoilers, this comic is the basis for that movie. Consider this your alert for spoilies.

If you've listened to the show before, you probably know that Kieran is a huge Green Lantern fan. Despite this, it somehow took us 65 episodes to finally review one of his books. Like most mainstream comics, the character has been rebooted to hell and back, so we decided to pick one of the reboots that is still held in high regard and see if it holds up as a good jumping on point for new readers.
That's right, we do a deep dive into Geoff Johns' 2005 reboot featuring Manhunters old and new, a giant mutated shark, and gremlins from space. Hal is really having a normal one.

This week we dive into the graphic novel adaptation of the real play Dungeons & Dragons podcast that is The Adventure Zone. It's a fourth wall breaking, gerblin killing, dead man's boots steeling good time.
Full disclosure, this book was written by the McElroys (as I'm sure you know) and we did have Clint on the show for our discussion of DC Metal. This episode is a bit of a cheat because 1) We like Clint and his good boys quite a lot, and 2) We already knew we liked this one going in.
