An addiction to pornography starts before the screen turns on. It begins in your thoughts. What can you do about that? Can't we control all of our thoughts? In this episode, we will talk about a concept known as Managing and how it can play a key role in your recovery.
In this episode of The Inner Revolution Podcast, we dive into the sixth pivot of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — Committed Action — and explore how all six pivots work together to create a life of meaning, purpose, and psychological flexibility.
You’ll learn why real transformation happens when we start FEELING good instead of chasing feeling GOOD, and how the six pivots; Acceptance, Defusion, Present Moment Awareness, Self-as-Context, Values, and Committed Action -- unite into one powerful, cohesive system for living the life you’ve always dreamed of.
Tune in to discover how to turn your values into action, make peace with discomfort, and take the next step toward your own inner revolution.
In this episode, we dive into the reasons behind values. What is their purpose? How can they benefit you when it comes to overcoming pornography addiction? Can they guide you to making better choices, rather than turning to porn to cope with uncomfortable feelings? If so, how? All that and more in this episode!
When it comes to pornography addiction, mindfulness is key. It's hard to make decisions in your life when it doesn't even feel like you are in this reality. This is why pivot #4 is here!
Have you ever been really anxious or upset, and you think to yourself, "Why am I so angry right now? This is strange." That is your observing self. Is this something you can always access, this part of you that is not affected by the overwhelming thoughts, emotions, and feelings? When it comes to things like pornography addiction, this is a key pivot. This allows you to take a step back and see the entire picture without getting consumed by cravings and urges.

This is the second episode in a six-part series where we talk about the six pivots to achieve psychological flexibility. Pivot 2 is a powerful step towards becoming the person you want. It doesn't start by challenging your thoughts or emotions; it starts by accepting them.
Psychological flexibility will allow you to live the kind of life you have always wanted. When you are fighting porn addiction, it will allow you to work through an urge or temptation and pivot towards the real you!

In this episode of The Inner Revolution Podcast, we dive into the first step of psychological flexibility in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Defusion. Let's take a look at this argument around pornography being classified as art. What do you think? Is porn art?
In the days of constantly comparing ourselves to others through an online presence, it can be hard to not love yourself for who you are. Even when you are doing your best to live a value-driven life, self-love can be lackluster. Hopefully, in this episode, you can have a better sense of how to love yourself, even when it feels like you can't.
We tend to overcomplicate addiction recovery. Addiction is not complicated; it requires consistency. Consistency in doing the small things day in and day out. Most people don't want to hear that, but it's the truth, and it's what works. In this episode, I talk about one place you can start:)
