The Tower of Babel describes a story of human work being done for human gain. Genesis 11:3–4 says, “They said to each other ‘Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.’ They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves.” We see humans using their gifts and talent to build and create for their own pleasure and gain. We see all the nations of the world turning their backs on God. Why are we going to work? I owe, I want, I need, etc…
