God says a lot about work. To fully understand the spiritual and theological significance of work, we have to go to the beginning. The book of Genesis describes the moments when God created the heavens and the earth. From the first few verses we see that God is not an idle deity, but one that creates and builds his creation to fellowship with him and follow his example.

Am I filled with gratitude and I surrender to the King of Kings and Lord God, who loved me in such a way that I do not even deserve? I do not deserve a single drop of his blood, but he shed it for me and He shed it for Judas too.

It is more blessed to give than to receive and we will lead the way with irrational generosity. Giving pleases the heart of God. When our finances allow us to be free, they allow us to give freely.

As much as we know that partnership and marriage is a good thing to be desired, it doesn’t need to be desired above all. The Lord has a purpose for everyone in every season of life, including singleness. In 1 Corinthians 7:32–35, Paul associates the married life with a life full of necessary worries and obligations. But the unmarried person has fewer complications, and so they can more freely do the work of the Lord.

Matthew 19:4–6, Jesus quotes from Genesis, telling the disciples that in the beginning, God created both man and woman to be united together as one flesh. This unison is indicative of each person leaving the protection of their parents in order to be forever joined to their spouse. In marriage, there is a bond that brings two people together that changes the dynamic they have with all their other relationships.
