  • Shattered Lives: Homicide by Diabetes?
December 5, 2007, 39 year old Patrick Smith was killed in a traffic accident in Mansfield, CT. This was not just a routine accident, the driver of a truck ran a stop light and plowed into Patrick's vehicle which was legally stopped at the light and then left the scene. Although some deadly traffic accidents are just that, an accident, with a driver who may have been at the wrong place at the wrong time, this accident is unusual as the driver was found to be in diabetic shock, his glucose level such that he didn't know what he was doing.
Michael Smith joins Shattered Lives Radio to help bring more awareness to, not only the public, but those who suffer with diabetes and the consequences of not taking control of the management of the disease. Joining Michael is Dr. Steven Edelman, author of "Taking Control of Your Diabetes" who has testified in court to the nuances of the disease and how it should be properly managed. As a diabetic, Dr. Edelman has not only clinical experience with the disease, but his own personal experiences in managing the disease properly.

  • Shattered Lives: Bill Jenkins Talks Gun Control
In the wake of mass tragedies attributed to guns like Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, the Aurora, CO theater shooting, and the infamous Columbine, gun control has become one of the hot button topics in every home in the US.
In 1997 Bill Jenkins’ son, William Benjamin Jenkins, was murdered at the fast food restaurant where he held his first real job. A shooter with an extensive criminal background, and a gun, took the life of the 16 year old on his second day of work.
Jenkins feels that had the 23 year old shooter not had access to the .380 semi-automatic handgun, he would not have had the wherewithal to commit the robbery and subsequent murder of his son.
Since this tragedy, Bill Jenkins has been a strong voice for gun control, often going up against those who are passionate about gun ownership rights in the US. He’s also a respected author and speaker, and  has become widely sought after as a workshop presenter, keynote speaker, and training facilitator for police, victim advocates, funeral home personnel, and victims themselves.

  • Shattered Lives: I've Had Enough of Bullying! Jamie Isaacs Speaks Out
The guests for the hour on Shattered Lives Radio are Jamie Isaacs and her mother Anne, outstanding advocates in the anti-bullying arena.

Jamie's mother Anne Isaacs said she knew her daughter was being bullied, but at a loss as to how to effectively handle the situation.
Carrying the pain of a scared, frightened, and yet angry little girl, Jamie set out to make changes about the way children were being treated by their bullying peers and created the Jamie Isaacs Foundation to become the voice for those whose voices were muted.
