Marc Austin was on track to become one of the World's best triathletes. Even as a youngster, the Scottish athlete's potential shone through. • Craig Alexander: A true triathlon gem

When people say they've never heard a bad word said about a particular athlete, you know you're in for a treat when the opportunity to interview them comes along.

That particular athlete is Craig "Crowie" Alexander.

The Australian grew up dreaming of a career as a soccer player. Thankfully for the triathlon world, the soccer dream went out of the window, to be replaced by a dream to be the world's best triathlete. He's gone on to win the Ironman World Championship 3 times and the Ironman 70.3 World Championship twice.

        • An incredible honesty about him lacking intrinsic confidence throughout his career
        • Him ooze passion for the sport, the process, the training, the lifestyle

The American describes herself as an athlete, author, activist and film maker. She's also a former pro triathlete and cyclist and she helped to get La Course by Le Tour, the one day women's race in the Tour de France, up and running. • This episode is dedicated to the late Peter Bertine, Kathryn's father who was taken ill the day after we did this interview and sadly died four days later.

            • Jody Jones: The remarkable woman who swam the channel with bowel cancer

You might not have heard of this week's guest the swimmer, Military Wives Choir member and mum of two, Jody Jones. But hearing this interview may have a rather large impact on your day, your week, your 2020...Perhaps even your life. You see, Jody oozes passion for open water swimming. In fact, she loves it so much that she swam the English Channel in 2019. Fewer than 700 women have ever completed the 21 mile crossing. But what makes Jody's achievement even more special is that she did it while undergoing treatment for stage 4 bowel cancer. It's pretty mind blowing.

              You'll hear:

              • About her complete fear of sea swimming!
              • Going from swimming for 6-7 hours to not being able to walk for 10metres without falling over
              • Why she fuels her long swims with potatoes
              • Being diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer at the age of 39
              • Why she hates the word inspirational

              • Update: Jody died in November 2022 from bowel cancer. But hopefully this interview will continue to have a positive impact on those who listen to it.

South African triathlete Matt Trautman grew up on the water, rather than in it.
