We kick off a new season of the podcast during Dyslexia Awareness Week 2021 with an interview with John Hick, a Dyslexia blogger and Neurodiversity coach. 

 

John is the presenter of the Parenting Dyslexia podcast, which discusses the emotional impact of dyslexia on parents, children and families as well as how to get support in school, dyslexia awareness and assistive technology.

In this episode Claire & Alina discuss with John the various challenges faced by parents and children affected by dyslexia, as well as some of the tools, resources and technology that can help them. 

 

John also describes what he learned from the experience of his daughter being diagnosed as dyslexic, as well as some of the potential advantages such a diagnosis may offer.

When April first returned home from the hospital with her first son, Max, she wasn't sure what to do next. She now offers support to families in the same position, reassuring and providing help to leave new parents feeling confident in their choices.
