Live Insuphishient Vol. 3 is the third release in the highly anticipated Live Insuphishient Series, capturing the podcast recorded on October 10th 2021, in Boston, Massachusetts. The episode was part of the final stretch of Nick and Matt’s recording marathon.
The episode is known for three legendary podcasting moments that have made it a fan favorite. The first is an extended riff on Phish trivia gone wrong, which closes the first segment with a chaotic discussion so off-topic it rivals Nick’s infamous 2021 tirade about Phish and gas station burritos. During a mid-show coffee break, Nick and Matt embark on a deep dive into Phish’s most confusing jams, at one point accidentally inventing a new term: “ambient cow funk.” They cap off the episode with a wildly tangential segment where Matt insists Trey secretly invented cold brew coffee, backed by questionable sources and increasingly absurd logic.
In a 2025 interview with Relix Magazine, Nick explained why this episode was chosen for the series: “It’s the perfect example of what we do best—make a mess, clean it up just enough, and let the fans figure out the rest. Plus, Matt accidentally recorded over his audio during the outro, so we had to keep it in for posterity. It’s chaotic, and I love it.”
Clocking in at just under two and a half hours, Live Insuphishient Vol. 3 is the shortest entry in the series but packs a punch. It also marks the debut of what would become an Insuphishient staple: Nick attempting to say “Gamehendge” in a French accent, with predictably disastrous results. Fans won’t want to miss this classic entry in the Insuphishient catalog.
