On this episode I speak with Insta famous tattoo artist Curt Montgomery about his journey into the sex positive communities, as we isolate and continue to fight COVID-19.

Curt Montgomery has been creating fine art for a long time. After partying away his 20s, then going sober for 18 years, he got into the tattoo scene and eventually realized there was a niche for highly sexual monochromatic tattoos. More recently, Curt’s tattoos have come to life as he’s embarked on a journey through the sex positive communities, experiencing for the first time in all their glory the erotic and perverse sex scenes that his tattoos depict. Now as he sits in quarantine and occupies himself with his art, his drawings and acrylics are inspired not by imagination but by memory.

On this episode I speak with LooLoo about her journey through various kinds of sex work while living with Tourette’s syndrome.

LooLoo has been living with Tourette’s and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder for most of her life, which has made it difficult for her to pursue her career as a nurse when college did not accommodate her needs. Growing up in a sex negative household, she was taught that porn is exploitative and causes problems in relationships. Somehow, LooLoo took the plunge and began making porn, camming online, and eventually working as an erotic masseuse despite what she has been raised to believe. In sex work she discovered liberation both from shame and the constrictions of her Tourette’s symptoms, which were nearly everywhere else considered a problem.

On this episode I speak with Cyn and J-Ryze from RyzeKink about the intersection of sex positivity with homelessness and addiction.

This episode is quite a journey down the strange rabbit hole that brought J-Ryze and Cyn together to form RyzeKink—a clothing line and sex positive brand that aims at the reduction of guilt and shame. J-Ryze tells us his story having come out of homelessness to begin working on social media branding and growth. Cyn examines her past struggles with addiction and how that played a pivotal role in her desire for change, which came along with a sexual reawakening. Together, these two have been through a lot of struggle and now work together to increase sex positivity by challenging guilt and shame around kink.

On this episode I speak to an evolutionary psychology class at York University about sex positivity and intellectual erection.

This isn’t a regular episode. I’m not interviewing anyone. This time I recorded a guest lecture I gave at York University on sex positivity in an evolutionary psychology class. I put together a talk based on the last two years of recording this podcast and broke the topics down into 7 categories: pleasure, consent, gender and sexuality, polyamory, kinks and fetishes, role play and power dynamics, and worker’s rights. Throughout the presentation I give anecdotes from the episodes and plug away my guests and their social media to further elevate the visibility of their stories, voices, and overall sex positivity.

On this episode I speak with Lance about what it means to be a polyamorous pansexual or bisexual man.

There are plenty of thorny issues in polyamory and relationships, but most of them revolve around communication. Lance and I wax philosophical about polyamory, monogamy, and the ethics of relationships in general. For Lance, not only was monogamy stifling but also his early notions of sexuality, which didn’t allow him to explore his diverse desires. In the second half of the episode Lance opens up about his pansexuality and how he came to terms with it, having battled with internalized homophobia. This is a great episode to highlight an often unheard voice, namely that of a male bisexual/pansexual.

This brings up a tough conversation about sex, power and double standards, especially considering the ongoing Harvey Weinstein trial.
