Death metal. Cats. And one insanely talented musician. One of the most hard working bands in metal music today are back, bigger, and better than ever. We are joined by the axeman Sammy Duet of New Orleans-based blackened death metal outfit, Goatwhore. 8 albums, 25 years, and pure death metal brutality – the legacy is only fit to grow and continue. In this episode, Sammy talks about the 8th and new record, “Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven,” and the grinding ebbs and flows of putting together another solid death metal record. There's a challenge in keeping things fresh over the years with Goatwhore's music, but Sammy never seems to be short of any of the creativity that's been implemented into another fan favorite. We also get to meet his cats! Willie and Boris. And just as important, if not more, we ask Sammy about his musical influences. Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream “Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven,” out now worldwide via Metal Blade Records.

A new name has entered the world of symphonic black metal, and it is Defacing God. We are proud to welcome the viciously talented frontwoman Sandie Gjørtz (aka Sandie The Lilith), as she talks about the 7 year journey leading up the debut record titled, “Resurrection Of Lilith.” All the setbacks and delays have now been transformed into a formidable release for her and her bandmates, and results have been overwhelmingly positive. Blending in the sounds of The Black Dahlia Murder, Dimmu, and Cradle Of Filth can be easier said than done, but Sandie and company have done just that, but with a sound established of their own true colors. Sandie also dives into the grotesque and thematic atmospheric tones that has shaped this new album into its dark tenor. Oh yes, this is exactly what we mean as the new face in symphonic black metal, and Sandie lets it all show in a debut record that will be talked about for years to come. Sandie is a storyteller, and we invite you to tune in. Emotional, cinematic, haunting, this record has it all. Defacing God is at the beginning of a promising journey, listen in now to our conversation with Sandie, and do yourself a favor and buy/stream the new record “Resurrection Of Lilith,” out now worldwide via Napalm Records.

All hail the KING OF THE NORTH. We are happy to welcome back frontman Tuomas Saukkonen on IUF from one of Finland's finest melodeath outfits, Wolfheart. The highly-anticipated 6th studio album, “King Of The North,” encompasses all the hard work the band has forged up until now. After releasing “Wolves Of Karelia '' and “Skull Soldiers” over the pandemic, Tuomas talks about his musical approach to following up those highly-praised albums, and how he and his bandmates may have just one-upped themselves yet again. A big part of this record deals with a change-up to add a few cleans into the tracks, making this Wolfheart's most diverse album ever. Bringing in the likes of other notable metal musicians such as Jesse Leach and Karl Sanders certainly added another layer in the album's arsenal, and Tuomas describes the planning process to bring Jesse and Karl into the production. Filled with a battlecry unmatched that will get your heart racing and the blood pumping, “King Of The North” serves as a quintessential addition to the melodic death metal genre that will be talked about for years to come. Tune in now to our conversation with Tuomas and be sure to buy and stream the new album from Wolfheart, out now worldwide via Napalm Records.

We are joined by Jolie Lindholm, the talented frontwoman and founder of South Florida-based band The Darling Fire. Composed of members from Shai Hulud, Further Seems Forever, and The Rocking Horse Winner to name a few – The Darling Fire exhibits a unique and refreshing sound in the elements of shoegaze, post-hardcore, 90s rock flavors and heavy metal. Jolie discusses with us about the bands journey, and the story on how each member found one another to form this new and exciting chapter, which entails the release of the bands new record, “Distortions.” Jolie also talks about her different interests outside of the music that fuel her creativity, and there's plenty of great topics to unpack on this one, and yes, nerding out over her love for sci-fi films is definitely one of them. Lastly, having her husband, Jeronimo Gomez, as a bandmate within The Darling Fire, has also proved to be a sense of growth, maturity, and understanding within who she is as a person and an artist. The chemistry is at its peak in the early stages of The Darling Fire. Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream the new album, “Distortions,” out now worldwide via Iodine Recordings.

Rising out of the northeast regions in Cleveland, Ohio – appearing within the dense fog in the night sky, are the atmospheric doom metal outfit, Frayle. We are joined by the founders, the mesmerizing frontwoman Gwyn Strang and guitarist Sean Bilovecky, who are more than grateful to be where they are today. The newest album, “Skin & Sorrow,” is one of the more groundbreaking post-metal releases anyone will come across in recent memory, and Gwyn and Sean break it down for us that lead to the final product. A 46-minute album filled with ethereal, haunting, and nurturing elements combined with a heavy metal mantra is quite the experience, which as a result, garners praise from other lauded outlets such as Knotfest, Metal Hammer, and Revolver. Gwyn and Sean have been at this for half a decade, but records as such give the listener an idea that they have been at this for a longer timeframe, which can serve as a great example of how talented Frayle really is. Another important facet of Frayle deals with the theatrics within their live performances and music videos, which add another impressive layer to their themes and musicianship. A talent in doom metal that is unmatched in contemporary times, and for a good reason. Dive into our conversation with Gwyn and Sean now, and be sure to buy and stream “Skin & Sorrow,” the new album from Frayle, Out now worldwide via Aqualamb Records and Lay Bare Recordings.

Capra. The Dillinger Escape Plan. Norma Jean. Converge. Just to name a few bands off of the Hardcore/mathcore genre – and if somehow someway these four came together to manifest a band made of all the chaos, the result would be none other than The Callous Daoboys. 6 years in existence with 2 albums under their arsenal, the atlanta-based band are bringing it down with all the relentlessness and madness in the music they create. And they continue doing it with plenty of well-deserved recognition, especially as of recent. We are joined by founder and frontman of TCD, Carson Pace, as he takes us through the twists and turns of their latest offering “Celebrity Therapist,” which showcases everything about the sextet that's in full swing. From spoken word, white noise, deathcore, to post-hardcore mixed with avant-garde, drone, violins and brass instruments – The Callous Daoboys are definitely doing their part in taking things outside the box in the wildest sub-genre in heavy music. Carson also mentions how this record is the result of their most emotional process to date, and take our word for it, it is heard loud and clear on “Celebrity Therapist.” Tune in now with a talented frontman of a band that is currently on the rise. “Celebrity Therapist” is out now worldwide via MNRK Heavy and Modern Static Records.
