WELCOME TO REITERMANIA. We welcome bassist Volkmar Weber aka Volk-Man, from German heavy metal outfit Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, onto IUF. The new and highly-anticipated album “Wilde Kinder” (translated to Wild Children) just dropped and we get the opportunity to speak with Volk-Man about the production processes that went behind their 12th album. Dropping 12 records in 25 years is a challenge within itself while keeping the sound fresh and original in that timespan. Volk-Man also takes a look at the chronology of the band and how they all have grown over the years as their dedicated fanbase has exponentially grown into a worldwide following. “Wilde Kinder” is quite the quick turnaround from their 2021 offering, “The Divine Horsemen”, and their sound as of late seems to be tighter and polished than ever before. And finally, Volk-Man weighs in on the War in Ukraine, as it has impacted many of the surrounding countries like Germany and others around the world. The vocalist, pianist, artist, actress, and creator of the realm in Margarita Monet joins IUF in this long-awaited episode. Tenacity. It's something that describes the talented Brandon Elgar. No matter the scenario, he's ready to take advantage of any opportunity, even if it means transitioning into the main vocalist for a band that's trending on the rise. The frontman of Jersey-based post-hardcore outfit Palisades talks about his long journey within the band that has been through trials, tribulations, losses, and victories. The band has also seen lineup changes throughout the years, which, at the same time, included performing at notable festivals such as Download, Rock Am Ring, and the upcoming So What?! Festival in Dallas, TX. The biggest change, however, is when the previous vocalist Lou Miceli left the band which opened the door for Brandon to take center stage (literally). Previously the band's bassist, Brandon mentions how the chemistry has always been the same regardless of losing a band member. It proves an example of how tight he and his other bandmates have kept their musicality. The new version of Palisades is not only the most mature offering the band is putting on display but also the most complete. The new album, “Reaching Hypercritical,” is a chapter that is shaping up to be the best yet. The past few years have changed them as people, but also have changed what Palisades' music has stood for, and for the better. The themes of the new record touch on mental health, anxiety, and dissociative disorders. At a time like today, it will strike a chord of positivity in the fans and listeners. We have a comeback on our hands, and its name is Agathodaimon. After a decade-long hiatus, the German-based black metal outfit are back with their 7th
full length album, appropriately titled, “The Seven”. We are joined by the founder and frontman Sathonys as he takes us back to the dreaded 2020 when the band finally reformed. Even though the world was at a standstill, it was a significant time for him and his bandmates as they announced their reunion. It was a challenge, as they took all the time they needed while at home to work out the kinks of this highly-anticipated album. Mixing in the sounds of the gothic, symphonic, and black metal elements is something Agathodaimon have excelled at – and “The Seven” turns it up a notch with the musicianship. Sathonys mentions how “It is our most ambitious album to date”, and this release serves as a testament to that. One aspect of this album that stands out is the theme, where it centers around the 7 deadly sins which contrast with religion, human beings and its original nature. Now that the world is heading towards the other side of the pandemic, Sathonys is ready to open the gates of black metal onto the realm again. A rebirth of a band which began over 2 decades ago, and now, its shaping up to be their finest chapter. We recently caught up with Isaac Lamb, drummer from Texas' very own hardcore favorites, Kublai Khan. In the middle of a touring cycle break, Isaac joins IUF from his home in Nashville, Tennessee, and things are setting up to be an exciting year for him and his bandmates. The new EP, titled "Lowest Form Of Animal,” serves as one of the more intense 15-minute offerings that the band has released. Isaac takes us through the draft process within the production, and how the compositions of songs differ for him from his bandmates. We also asked him about the time that movie star Kate Beckinsale shared their song on her Instagram story (WHAT?!)– which definitely turned a lot of heads in their direction. Whatever the case may be, this is Kublai Khan's year, and with the new EP out, it's only a matter of time that things get rolling for their next full length. And finally, Isaac takes a moment to appreciate his love for drumming, while looking back on other notable drummers in the industry who influenced him into who he is today. “Eulogies” serves as the title of the new album from Ohio-based metalcore outfit, Wolves At The Gate. We are joined by guitarist Steve Cobucci to talk about the band's history and his own journey which paved the way up to where he is now. There have been painful parts in his life that we touch on that translate into one of the themes into this album. Between negative experiences, his faith, and his perseverance – Steve has been grateful to learn so much about himself over the years. “Eulogies” is a culmination of not only his experiences, but the bands as a whole. Seems as if the chemistry is at it's finest after over 10 years of playing the music they love. We also get the chance to ask Steve about other interests that feed into his creativity of music, and that includes being a carpenter and building his own studio, where the bulk of the album's production took place. And lastly, Steve shares his opinion on being labeled a Christian band, and how he views the direction the band is taking with that aspect. It's time for some more Testament - The legendary Chuck Billy returns to IUF, and this time we get the chance to catch up with him on everything he's been up to since 2020. The Bay Strikes Back tour kicks off soon, and Chuck has never been more ready to get back out on the road after 2 years. From working in real estate flipping houses, to doing voice overs in the MCU, it's been a busy last 24 months for Chuck while being away from the stage. Death metal and romantic comedies don't usually mesh...or do they? We welcome one of the up and coming frontmen in modern death metal, Alexander Jones from New York-based band Undeath, onto IUF. We ask Alex about the well-deserved recognition he and his bandmates have received within the last year or so, and it's been a nice reminder for him to look back on as the band gears up for the new album, “It's Time...To Rise From The Grave.” Filled with some of the heaviest material 2022 will ever see, and take our word for it, the new record is quite the neck workout clocking in at 36 minutes.
