It's fate. When Chris Sullivan of Wolftooth got the call about signing with the highly-lauded record label of Napalm Records, he didn't believe it then. Let us be clear, he doesn't even believe it now. It's evidence of the hard work he and his bandmates have been through leading up to the release of the new album titled “Blood & Iron”. This also serves as the quartet's 3rd record, and dare we say, their finest work within the realm of doom and stoner metal. Hailing from the city of Richmond, Indiana, Chris took the time to sit with IUF recently to dive into the band's story-line as well as the production processes of the new record. Chris also talks about his love for motorcycles, which include his own motorcycle seat company. Though he's not a full-time musician, taking part in different passions have provided a level of creativity and comfort into his music. We welcome back our good friend, frontman Joe Badolato from New Jersey metal outfit Fit For An Autopsy. What a year it's been for him (and FFAA) – from being a musician, a barber, a gamer, and to just being an individual displaying his passion to full potential. A lot has happened since we last spoke with Joe from 2019, and in this interview he gets us up to speed on everything happening in his life. This episode gave him the chance to take a deep breath and look back on his storied journey. Moving from Long Island, NY to Mesa, AZ can be an easier-said-than-done transition, but Joe did exactly just that in the beginning of 2021 to complete his dream of opening up his own barbershop titled “Continental Barbershop”. Additionally, it serves as an ingredient to his creativity – and that also means the music he's involved in. We welcome guitarist Terrance Hobbs from one of death metal's finest outfits, Suffocation. After 3 decades of trekking the world while playing pure classic death metal riffs for millions of fans, we give Terrance the chance to sit and reflect on these countless memories. A lot of hard work during these years yet a rewarding experience. Bassist Raad Soudani from the Los Angeles-based metalcore outfit,Volumes, has been through the ups, the downs, and everything in between. Being the sole original member left in the band, Raad talks to IUF about the personal growth which he and his bandmates have been through over the years. Now that live music is coming back into the fray in the States, Raad also shares his gratitude of getting the opportunity to perform on the stage again. It's one thing to continue creating the music you write from the heart, but it's another thing to have thick skin and work as a publicist representing other artists who aspire to step into the industry. Gemma has seen and learned things from the inside and out, and that has proved as evidence which helped her arrive at this point in her career. From her humble, isolated beginnings in Maine, to finding her identity - personally and artistically, and then to join a NY-based music agency (Tell All Your Friends) – a “wild ride” would be an understatement. Gemma dives into how she found herself within the realm of music and then taking the next next big step into being a publicist. At the same time, she gives her insight into what she has learned about the industry and the goals she has set for herself in the very near future. The pandemic had its effect, sure, but Gemma can now take those experiences forward and apply them to newer and higher goals as a person representing other musicians. Finally, we take the time to speak with Gemma about her own music – from her forthcoming studio album releasing in the Spring of 2022. Welcome to Season 11! We open things up with a band on the rise – Switzerland's very own symphonic metal outfit, Ad Infinitum. The magnificent frontwoman Melissa Bonny sits with us today to talk about how busy she and her bandmates have been during all of the wild stages of the pandemic. From 2020 to 2021, they have dropped two genre defining albums, and it seems as if nothing could ever stop their drive to keep the music creativity going. There may have been a sense of pressure on dropping a debut album in the middle of a year where the music industry took the biggest punches, but Ad Infinitum gave the fans something to hang their hats on during tough times. Combining sounds of Within Temptation, Beyond The Black, and Opeth – Ad Infinitum also adds in the head-bobbing riffs, catchy hooks, and mesmerizing melodies within their compositions, all the while retaining that heaviness. Last but not least, it's Melissa's vocals that really round out the band's sound in unique fashion. Whether it be her guttural and monstrous side or the soprano and majestic side, Melissa has made her mark as one of the more talented voices in heavy metal today.
