“I wanted to be in the most kick-ass all-female band ever.” It's time to live your truth and shred some gnar with Nobro - one of the more talented up-and-coming punk outfits in the modern era. We are joined by the band's founder and frontwoman Kathryn McCaughey in today's episode of IUF. In 2022, it's the Year Of The Demon. We are joined by guitarist Armand Anthony from West-coast heavy metal outfit, Night Demon. Lauded as one of the hardest working touring bands in the last decade, the last 2 years was a step back, yet two steps forward for Armand and company. He sits with us today to talk about the last 24 months within the band's journey, and how it allowed him and his bandmates to discover more about themselves musically. The result? Growing up, seasoned veteran vocalist/frontman Rob Dukes was immersed in the genres of punk rock during his youth, at the same time it served as a gateway genre before tapping into the music of heavy metal. Fast forward to now, he has conquered many roads of fronting other music acts such as Exodus, Bloodmoon Ritual, and Fragile Mortals. If there was any artist out there who needed a memoir written, it's Rob. We get the chance to sit with him to talk about his latest work with his current band, Generation Kill. The new album “MKUltra”, captures a revamped sound of the bands established work in thrash-crossover. Rob takes us through the production process that picked up from where they left off, which was nearly 10 years ago. A decade between albums is not an easy task, but Generation Kill knows no limit on time in between releases. The wait was sure worth every second, and Rob has been grateful during those years which allowed him to grow personally and artistically. In less than a decade, Los Angeles-based band Once Human have been taking the heavy metal world by the horns and have made a name for themselves. Kathrine Shepard, widely known as the Norwegian multi-instrumentalist and composer, Sylvaine, is our special guest today. Her highly-anticipated 4th studio album “Nova” is set to be not only her best work to date, but also the most personal. We sat with Sylvaine to have one of the more in-depth discussions on a production process that went through many obstacles. Hard work and dedication to a craft is shown to full potential with her talent, and Sylvaine has been grateful to be at this point in her career. “Nova” captures everything that makes up Sylvaines musical architecture (and then some), and whether or not this passion project she manifested ten years ago will continue in the coming years, there's a sense of fulfillment she has taken in. We also ask Sylvaine about other aspects of her life that don't exactly deal with music, and whether it be cooking or yoga, they have fed her (pun!) personally into what she loves doing. Earning a Norwegian Grammy from her past years has also taught her a great deal of humility; It's growth, and it's forging ahead to become a better version of oneself each and everyday, which Sylvaine is a living testament to.
