We welcome back our good friend, frontman Joe Badolato from New Jersey metal outfit Fit For An Autopsy. What a year it's been for him (and FFAA) – from being a musician, a barber, a gamer, and to just being an individual displaying his passion to full potential. A lot has happened since we last spoke with Joe from 2019, and in this interview he gets us up to speed on everything happening in his life. This episode gave him the chance to take a deep breath and look back on his storied journey. Moving from Long Island, NY to Mesa, AZ can be an easier-said-than-done transition, but Joe did exactly just that in the beginning of 2021 to complete his dream of opening up his own barbershop titled “Continental Barbershop”. Additionally, it serves as an ingredient to his creativity – and that also means the music he's involved in. We talk to him about FFAA's highly-anticipated new album to kick off 2022, titled “Oh What The Future Holds”, and Joe couldn't be more grateful and thankful to be where he's at with this band, who continue to display punch after punch within the heavy metal realm. The labeling of deathcore can seem to be limiting, and even though Fit For An Autopsy started off in that category, they have evolved into a sound that can hardly be labeled into just one subgenre. Joe describes the growth that he and bandmates have endured musically, and it has shown in their most recent records, with the new one turning things up a notch – especially in the vocals department. 2021 was a big and important step for Joe, and he's ready to top it in 2022. Tune in now with our full in-depth conversation with Joe Badolato, who's passion goes unmatched for everything he's setting out to accomplish; It serves as an inspiration. Fit For An Autopsy's new record “Oh What The Future Holds” unleashes January 14 via Nuclear Blast Records.

We welcome guitarist Terrance Hobbs from one of death metal's finest outfits, Suffocation. After 3 decades of trekking the world while playing pure classic death metal riffs for millions of fans, we give Terrance the chance to sit and reflect on these countless memories. A lot of hard work during these years yet a rewarding experience. Everything came together as he and his bandmates unleashed the newest live album ''Live In North America”, which covers the entirety of their North American tour in 2018. While everything did come together, it also served as the final page in the band's most recent chapter – and that is the departure of their long time friend, bandmate, and frontman, Frank Mullen. It was time Frank left the band to pursue a new chapter of his own, but on a high note (literally). We ask Terrance about the positive impact that Frank has left on him and many others within the metal community. At the same time, these are quite the big shoes to fill as they have now found a new frontman who will lead Suffocation to the newest chapter, and that is seasoned vocalist Ricky Myers. Terrance mentions that even though there will never be anyone like Frank, Ricky was the perfect choice for the band's new frontman. Whether it be Frank, or Ricky – one thing is certain, Suffocation will forge ahead with some of the most exciting new music set to drop in the near future. They are 8 albums into their renowned career, and Terrance is more than eager to get the new tunes to the forefront. Imagine the Wild, Wild West. What do you see? The desert frontier, cowboys, horses, lawlessness and militias forming against the new sheriff in town spiel? That works. Now imagine all that while dropping the element of atmospheric black metal within that world. Enter the solo project titled Untamed Land, created by mastermind musician Patrick Kern. Newly signed to Napalm Records, Patrick talks about the excitement of getting his own music out into the world with a renowned label on his side. Patrick dives into his Jack Of All Trades approach on releasing an album that he had full power over, which provided a sense of comfort knowing how he wanted this album to sound. The idea to manifest elements of a western-themed black metal impression is uncharted territory, yet Patrick executes it to full potential. A breath of fresh air is given into this dark world with folk, doom, and cinematic tones. Untamed Land is a sonically infused province which needs to be visited by any music fan out there; Tune in now to our conversation with Patrick and be sure to buy and stream the new album “Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms”, out now worldwide via Napalm Records.

IUF is proud to welcome our next guest onto the Deep Cuts segment; The amazing Brooklyn-based indie folk singer-songwriter and publicist, Gemma Laurence. It's one thing to continue creating the music you write from the heart, but it's another thing to have thick skin and work as a publicist representing other artists who aspire to step into the industry. Gemma has seen and learned things from the inside and out, and that has proved as evidence which helped her arrive at this point in her career. From her humble, isolated beginnings in Maine, to finding her identity - personally and artistically, and then to join a NY-based music agency (Tell All Your Friends) – a “wild ride” would be an understatement. Gemma dives into how she found herself within the realm of music and then taking the next next big step into being a publicist. At the same time, she gives her insight into what she has learned about the industry and the goals she has set for herself in the very near future. The pandemic had its effect, sure, but Gemma can now take those experiences forward and apply them to newer and higher goals as a person representing other musicians. Finally, we take the time to speak with Gemma about her own music – from her forthcoming studio album releasing in the Spring of 2022. Plenty to unravel with one of IUF's hard working partners in the industry. Gemma has done it all, but it's just the start. Tune in to this episode now and be sure to check out “Adrienne”, the newest single from this multi-talented individual. Gemma Laurence's new album drops next year!

Welcome to Season 11! We open things up with a band on the rise – Switzerland's very own symphonic metal outfit, Ad Infinitum. The magnificent frontwoman Melissa Bonny sits with us today to talk about how busy she and her bandmates have been during all of the wild stages of the pandemic. From 2020 to 2021, they have dropped two genre defining albums, and it seems as if nothing could ever stop their drive to keep the music creativity going. There may have been a sense of pressure on dropping a debut album in the middle of a year where the music industry took the biggest punches, but Ad Infinitum gave the fans something to hang their hats on during tough times. Combining sounds of Within Temptation, Beyond The Black, and Opeth – Ad Infinitum also adds in the head-bobbing riffs, catchy hooks, and mesmerizing melodies within their compositions, all the while retaining that heaviness. Last but not least, it's Melissa's vocals that really round out the band's sound in unique fashion. Whether it be her guttural and monstrous side or the soprano and majestic side, Melissa has made her mark as one of the more talented voices in heavy metal today. Ad Infinitum's new record “Chapter II: Legacy” is out now worldwide via Napalm Records. We welcome Erik Engstrand and Kristofer Strandberg from the Swedish metalcore outfit, Eyes Wide Open. Their highly-anticipated 5th album “Through Life And Death” just dropped, but not without the growth, experience, and dedication to their artistry over the years. They have been around for over a decade within the grounds of Sweden and the rest of Europe, establishing themselves as one of the more promising metal acts to come out of Scandinavia. Erik and Kristofer talk about how it can get a bit unorthodox trying to emulate other well-known native bands such as In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and At The Gates – but they also talk about how they created their own distinct sound which make Eyes Wide Open stand out from this convoluted Swedish heavy metal crowd of bands. Additionally, these two talented individuals take us through the themes, concepts, production, and even the eye-opening artwork behind each of their releases. Every album serves more or less as a storyline of sorts and their lyricism has painted vivid examples within their compositions. 5 albums, but it feels as if they are just getting started. Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream the new record from Eyes Wide Open, “Through Life And Death”, out now worldwide via Arising Empire.
