In this Nonprofit Hour show we'll be continuing in our series of conversations with candidates currently running for Portland city offices by hearing a conversation that Phil Busse had with mayoral candidate Sarah Iannarone. She speaks about her experience as a business owner and virtual ambassador for the city of Portland through her work at PSU with international visitors who come here to learn from our cities model of growth. She finds much to praise about our community and also identifies a few areas in need of change and discusses what she would do about them from City Hall.

In the second half of the show we'll speak with Scott Brown and Ed Zancanella from Surge/Restore who are also in the Afro-Latin Blues band Ojos Feos which is having a benefit show on Saturday, May 7th to raise funds for their organization which is training skilled doctors in the African nation of Sierra Leone which, through decades of war and disease has been coping with severely outdated surgical procedures and medical institiutions. They joined us to discuss their organization, bring us some music from their band and tell us about the upcoming event.

In this Nonprofit Hour show we'll be continuing in our series of conversations with candidates currently running for City council seats in which we talk to them about what makes Portland unique, the problems we may be facing in our city in the future and the ways in which government and nonprofits can work collaboratively to solve the pressing issues shaping our communities destinies.

First up we'll be hearing from Fred Stewart, a real estate broker and long time resident and community activist from Northeast Portland who is making another run for elected office this year in a bid for seat number 4 on the city council -- a position held by current Commissioner Steve Novick.

In the second half of the show we'll hear another segment from our most recent live show at the Waypost on North Williams where Phil Busse talked with an Assistant Attorney General for the Oregon Department of Justice and current Portland mayoral candidate David Schor.
