Regarding holidays, feelings and food, it's helpful to plan ahead and have a successful strategy in mind. Know how you’re going to play the game. For example, I don't recommend springing new ideas about “avoiding meat” just as people are sitting down in front of a large ham, turkey or salmon dinner. At an event where there will be people and food, feelings can get hot quickly. Here are a few tips I have used successfully to avoid frayed nerves, and unnecessary arguments.

Some say if people treat me badly it’s because I deserve it. When people treat me badly it's all on them. They have a self discipline/self control issue. "Night Vision"- As a college student there are many "firsts" to be expected. Who didn't enjoy their first "A" paper, first pizza party of the semester, first paycheck and first team win! What about the first-car accident? This one could have ended my life. As a line of semitrucks came full speed toward my "stopped across the snowy road compact car", 2 strangers jumped out fo their jeep, as fast as a superhero and... We all can be more successful with help. 

"Loyalty and a Dog"- The love of a dog for their child! When there is no one to help a loyal pet can make the difference between llife and death. That happened to me when I was a small child walking in the woods! Thanks to my beloved pet this has a happy ending! We all can be more successful with help.
