Love for God is the motivation of why you do what you do. It gives you the knowledge to understand and discern what to do. “I pray your love may abound more and more in knowledge and discernment” (Phil 1:9). “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind” (Matt 22:37). This is a command. Personal love for God is problem-solving device #6. You can’t love a God you don’t know. If you don’t know His Word, you don’t know Him. “For this is the love of God, that we keep His mandates; and His mandates are not hard” (1 John 5:3). God is not going to ask you to do something you can’t. “Though having not seen Him you love Him and though now you do not see Him yet believing in Him you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving as the end of your faith the salvation of your souls” (1 Pet 1:8-9). Only one thing will make you happy. Christ said it this way, “happiness belongs to those who hear My Father’s Word and keep it” (Luke 11:28).
