Love is a virtue.  Love for God is motivational virtue. Love for others is a functional virtue. If you love God, you will obey Him (John 14:15) and the base of this love is the filling of the Holy Spirit. “Whoever keeps His Word, truly the love of God is perfected in him” (1 John 2:5). Love is the capacity for life. It’s like a flowing river with knowledge and wisdom being the banks keeping the water in control. If emotions take over, water overflows the banks, and love goes amok. The more you learn of the Word of God the more you realize the importance of loving God. And the importance of being occupied with Jesus Christ, problem-solving device number 10. Stability in life. “Now that you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth so that you have genuine love, love for one another developed deeply from the heart” (1 Pet 1:22).
