Sarah Anes is a real estate investor, software developer, course creator and mom of three. Sara went from being a nurse to a real estate investor that built a CRM for investors to scale faster with automated systems. She took these systems and applied them to her kids and home life to stop the chaos.
1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I love playing sports even though I’m terrible at everything I play.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
My kids. They inspire me every single. They push me and it’s not their job to do that, but they do it every single day.
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
Atomic Habits: Tiny Changes Remarkable Reslults by James Clear
The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
Keep going. If something’s not working, change it. If it’s not working yet, stick to it.
Find something, anything, do it, and do it well. When you’re on a journey to make more money, the best thing you can do is invest in yourself, invest in a course, in mentorships. Use tax money, work a little bit of overtime, whatever it is you need to do, but make sure you invest in something.

My kids. They inspire me because they make me want to be better in all of my roles. 4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
Start taking some action. I think it’s really easy to get stuck in analysis paralysis, or you just accumulate knowledge, and you feel like you have imposter syndrome and can’t do something.

My name is Christina Day and I’m a 40 something divorced woman, and mom to a preteen boy. This is my starting point. Beyond that, I’m also a burnt-out but still practicing ER nurse. I (mostly) love my job, but I also realized that I enjoy helping people AVOID those ER visits even more. Cue health and life coaching and my self-improvement journey. Preventative health became a passion of mine (even more so when I hit my 40s and realized my body was needing some help), as is living the best life possible. This looks different for everyone, but for me, this means living debt-free, making lifestyle choices that will allow me to age gracefully and avoid disease as much as possible, and have time and energy to devote to my family and friends. Throw in a vacation a year, and I’m truly happy with my life.
I started my career in nursing, bought a house with the guy I will later marry, got married, had a baby. I was sleep deprived as a new mom, then stressed out as a not quite so new mom. My married life was suffering, and I just wasn’t happy. Don’t get me wrong, things LOOKED great from the outside, but I knew that the status quo just wasn’t good enough for me anymore. So what was? I had no idea. All I knew was that my then-current situation was not working. I went on a soul searching journey, almost got separated, we thought we could work on things, then 2 years later separated for good and then got divorced.
Here’s what I learned during these last few years. I learned how to take care of my finances. While I was married, I let him take the reigns because he seemed to know what he was doing. “Seemed to” being the key word here. It wasn’t until after my separation that I realized how wrong I was about that. Fast forward to budgeting apps, living debt free, smart investments, and a higher credit score, and not buying things just because they are on sale. I learned how to make healthy food choices most of the time (I will always have a sweet tooth and an appreciation of wine, and I’m ok with that). I learned what kind of exercise regime works for me (nope, it’s definitely not the gym). I learned what I want out of a relationship, and not to settle for “good enough”. I learned that I deserve f*cking amazing, and I’m ok to wait until I find that. I learned that yoga is good for my soul, and so is spending time in nature. I became a better person, I became less stressed and much less angry (dare I say even almost a little too zen sometimes), which in turn has made me a better parent and a better person.
1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I am actually terrified of water, and bodies of water, but I love kayaking. I love paddle boarding. I love going on cruises, but for some reason, I have this weird fear of water.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
I think it has to be my son he’s 11, almost 12, and everything I do is with him in mind. He inspires me every single day with just the little things that he does and the way he supports me and my business.
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
November 9 by Colleen Hoover
Human Design for Business by Jamie Palmer
4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
Figure out what your goals are, your big goals, your dreams, and all those things. Then take the first step, no matter how small that first step is. Take it today. Don’t wait until tomorrow, next week, or next year. Just take that first step, whether it’s wanting to host your own summit or whether you want to save up for an amazing vacation home, whatever it is, take a step and just do it.

1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
Remember when you were a kid and made shadow puppets with your hands? I can do a gorilla.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
October 1st is the anniversary of my dad’s death. He died 17 years ago when I was 17 years old. My dad could not manage money.
He was a wonderful father, but he had his addictions and all those things and he just, he couldn’t do it. I think about him all the time and about where I am in my life. He would be so proud of me because he couldn’t do it and he wouldn’t be jealous. He would just be so proud of me. Anytime I need to gut a wall or install cabinets, I know that he would have been there to help me. So I would probably say it sounds terrible, but the lack of what he could not do, Inspires me to be the best version of myself.
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
Best Ever Apartment Syndication by Joe Fairless
Any Tony Robbins Books
10X Kids by Grant Cardone

Find your local meetups, at meetup.com. It’s a national website and you can find free local meetups in your area to meet people who you are aspiring to be, or who’ve already “made it”. You can meet these people for free. You don’t even have to speak at first. Go to the meeting and start going every single month. Let your face be known. Then start talking to people. Don’t be a wallflower.

1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I have been trapped in quicksand before.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
I would say my mom inspires me the most. I tell her that and she’s like, don’t hold me up on a pedestal and I’m like, you’re not on a pedestal Mom, but she inspires me because she is a wonderful mother.
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
Money Made Easy: How to Budget, Pay Off Debt and Save Money by Allison Baggerly
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
I would say set aside money for yourself. It is not selfish, or shameful, nor make you feel guilty to set aside money just for you. Whether it’s just money that you’re intentionally spending on something or you’re setting aside for your own goal. I think so often as moms, and speaking from experience, we give and give and give. It brings us joy to do that, but we forget to give back to ourselves.

1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I would say that I can speak a little bit of Italian. And right now in Columbia, I’m working on taking salsa lessons and I’m like obsessed with dancing salsa and I’m getting pretty good at it.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
David Goggins, he is a Navy SEAL and he grew up in Indiana and experienced a lot of racism, and a lot of issues with abuse from his father. His family lived off food stamps and he grew up to become a Navy seal.
His story is so inspiring and so compelling and the takeaway that I get from it, because a lot of people just think he’s like this hardcore fitness guy, but the takeaway I get from it is that he, he, he helps people to not be in a victim mindset
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?

4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
If anyone is a control freak or perfectionist, I am also a recovering control freak and one of the things that stopped me from taking action is that I felt like everything had to be perfect. I felt like, I needed to learn more or I needed to have more experience or I needed to have more knowledge so that I don’t make a mistake.
I didn’t want to make a mistake that would cost me time, or that would cost me money. I held myself back for many years from doing anything in creating passive income streams and investing in real estate. I just had to accept the reality that I would make mistakes no matter how prepared I was.
