1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I secretly want to be an actress.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
My mother. I know a lot of people say that, but when I was 10 years old, my dad just like walked out of our lives and she had me really young. She was maybe 28 at that time with a 10-year-old. My dad always took care of us so she had work experience, but she was just used to being a stay-at-home mom. She was thrown back into the corporate world and just really had to hustle hard to take care of us.
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
From College To Covid: 24 Lessons Learned During Lockdown To Increase Your Drive, Destiny, & Dollars by Hassan Thomas
4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
Try to create a community. I think we’re getting better now, as far as salary transparency, and more money conversations on social media. There’s content where they ask people how much money they make, or what’s your credit score. These conversations are just a little bit more transparent and open. And I think that as women, as moms, sometimes we’re scared to talk about these things. I think that finding a community, forums, or listening to podcasts like this, will help you stay focused with your finances.

1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I was a national gymnast.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
This is someone who inspired my decision to leave my job. It was Michelle Obama and reading Michelle Obama’s book, Becoming, was a big inspiration for me in making the decision to leave my corporate job and take that huge leap of faith and change for me.

4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
Never question your self-worth. Your opinion matters, whether you are bringing in an income or not. If you are in a relationship and you’re a family make joint decisions on joint goals. I think that’s really important from a financial standpoint, whether you are bringing in an income or not.
The second thing that I would say is just simply being financially aware. I think being financially aware of what’s going on, and where things are is important. You don’t need to be managing the money day to day. You don’t need to be paying the bills. You don’t need to be writing out a budget or anything, but you need to be financially aware and you need to be part of big financial decisions. You need to know where your money is and going.

1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I’m a daredevil.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
My husband and my family hands down. The reason they inspire me the most is because when I made the transition from corporate America, most individuals don’t make the transition at a point in my career when I did having grown through the corporate ranks, getting to some very senior levels.
If it hadn’t been for my husband and my kids saying, mommy, you can do this. And my husband’s saying I have full faith in you. It’s okay if we go to one income for a period of time, I would not be where I am today
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?

4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
Pay yourself. Whether it’s even if it’s just 5 bucks a month because that’s all you can spare. It will start triggering things in your mind in terms of what more could you be doing.

Christine is a former R&D product research scientist in the food & beverage Industry turned real estate investor focusing on multifamily properties. She knew fairly early on that corporate life wasn’t the best fit for her. After the first honeymoon year in any new job she had, the excitement quickly wore off with the long hours, highly competitive environment, and unwelcome attitude towards thinking outside of the box. It wasn’t until 11 years and 2 children later in her career, that she finally took action to find another path. In late 2019, she started learning as much as she could about real estate.
By 2020, she was committed to jumping into this business. By that summer, she and her husband sold their primary home and purchased a duplex to house hack. This helped save on housing and living expenses, thus making leaving her job and pursuing real estate investing a slightly less risky endeavor. Along with that transition, she also purchased 4 rental properties in Philadelphia and invested in multifamily and mobile home park syndications across NC, SC, GA, FL and TX.

1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
Before I had kids, I used to do CrossFit and box. Back then, if you saw me, I didn’t look like someone who did CrossFit.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
Lately, I’ve been meeting a lot of very inspiring people, but I’m most inspired by my mom. She sacrificed a lot for our family after she got married and started having kids. She used to have a job and career before she got married but then became a housewife when she had my sister and me. Now that I’m an adult, looking back, I can see really all the sacrifices that she made.
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear

4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their money journey?
Find your clan! Moms stick together. I think moms have this universal understanding of the struggle each day of being a mom. Find other moms who are on the same journey as you toward financial independence and freedom. It is so powerful to have this group behind you and they have your back because this journey sometimes feels lonely. Even when you’re in mom groups or you have play dates, not every mom out there has the same mindset of achieving financial freedom. They’re focusing on other things and they are very important as well.
