We’re faced with choices every day. Most are trivial and underwhelming to the point we don’t realize they’re even choices at all. Getting gas, whether or not to order take out, or the ever infamous quandary: “should I go to the gym?” There does, however, come those times when we’re forced to make more profound decisions…the type that could very well alter the trajectory of our future. We sat down for an interview with artist, public speaker, educator, and activist Blackliq. While he has achieved much in the entertainment space, his music was not the main topic of discussion. Instead, he told us exclusively and for the 1st time publicly, about the day a homicide detective showed up at his work back in 2004, informing him that his father was being charged with 1st degree murder.

Lyndon McLeod was your typical controversial online troll. He was loud, provocative, and identified as a quote, “Shiva-the-destroyer archetype who likes to watch shit burn.” He also happened to be an author. His 4,485 page self-published 3-part work entitled “Sanction” began to gain some traction online with the help of his dark and outlandish marketing tactics… but one supporter of the writer’s Patreon eventually realized the book wasn't a fictional tale. When warnings fell on deaf ears… when no one listened to threats that inevitably turned out to be true - the city of Denver, CO would be met with a brand of devastation well beyond anyone’s worst nightmares.

Most of us are at least peripherally familiar with the story of John Meehan, a.k.a the infamous “Dirty John,”  the con-artist who terrorized women across the United States. But when the news broke of what happened to John during his final moments, the infamy surrounding his abusive escapades strangely led to several international TV deals, docuseries, and was even the basis for some of the most successful investigative true-crime podcasts ever created. Fortunes were made as a result of his long history of domestic violence and abuse, but the victims of the traumatic events were of the few who never saw a substantial pay day. “Respect your elders.” It’s something we’ve all heard since we were young. Albert Flick, a 76-year-old US Army veteran from Westbrook, Maine fit the precise mold of the type of individual we’re expected to revere. You’d never know based on appearance alone that this man had an extremely dark & violent past. When a judge gave Mr. Flick another chance at life after years in and out of prison for violent crimes, he started over in a new town where no one knew of his past…but allowing this elderly man to walk free proved to be one of the most costly & deadly mistakes the state of Maine could have ever made.

“Why didn’t she just leave?” This is a question usually proposed by the uninformed. Individuals unaware of just how difficult and dangerous it is for victims of domestic violence to get out of their toxic relationship. It’s never that simple and everyone’s situation is different. A young school teacher by the name of Amber Guichelaar was one of these women. She wanted to get out and almost did. A tragedy that was first reported as an accident, would turn out to be much more than that. When detectives found letters Amber had left behind, they would finally reveal the truth of what really happened.

In 2017, just days after Thanksgiving, a 25-year-old woman from Keystone Heights, FL mysteriously disappeared. Authorities wasted no time in launching their search efforts, as this wasn’t the average missing person case. 63-year-old Chef Daniel Brophy was the Oregon Culinary Institute's most eccentric instructor for many years. His hands-on method of foraging wild herbs & incorporating them in his dishes was only one example of what made him so special, in and out of the kitchen. All seemed well in Daniel’s personal life as well, having been married to his wife Nancy for over 20 years. In 2018, Daniel left his home early in the morning to teach his normal Saturday course. Little did he know, heading into work that day meant walking directly into a trap…when he was confronted with a 9mm Glock 17, held by the last person anyone would expect.

On the afternoon of April 27th, 2016, 33-year-old Tricia Todd of Hobe Sound, FL never arrived to pick her young daughter up from her babysitter. Family was notified, who subsequently went to pick up the child. Tricia’s family believed she may have been held up at work or possibly forgotten, but hours continued passing by with no word. The following day, during a visit to Tricia’s home, her family found her car parked across the street in a neighbor’s driveway and inside of her home sat full bags of groceries.
