Hello and welcome to this week’s episode of Ireland Creates episode 15 of this podcast talking to the storytellers behind the story.
In this episode, I speak with Dublin based painter Denise French about starting off in college at the age of 40 while taking care of three small children and how her practice has grown and developed in the years since.
I personally love the emotive nature of Denise’s paintings and so it was a pleasure to sit down with her virtually and have a chat.
This week we marked international women’s day 2021 and as you may remember from the last episode for the month of March I’ve decided to feature female artists, to help do my bit to support women creators.
However, I know that’s not enough. I want to make Ireland Creates a podcast that represents the wealth of talent that we have in Ireland, storytellers originally not from Ireland but have made this wee green isle their home, to storytellers from the LGBTQ community, minority groups and more. I want this to be an inclusive podcast where storytellers living in Ireland or with a connection to Ireland have a chance to share their story regardless of their origins, sexual orientation or backgrounds.
So if you know of a storyteller based here that you would like to hear featured on Ireland Creates please get in touch with me through my website www.AislingORourke.com and let me know.
And please do remember you can back the podcast on Patreon here.
Thanks again to Denise French for speaking to me you can check out her work on www.denisefrench.net or look for Denise French Artist on Instagram or Facebook.
