  • Theresa Reads Exodus 33-35
Exodus 33 – God expresses His extreme anger at the Israelites to Moses and He would not go with them to the promised but eventually forgives them through conversation with Moses. Moses asks God to show him His glory, but God tells him that (I quote from vs. 22 & 23) “while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.”
Exodus 34 – After 40 days and nights before God, Moses returns from Mt. Sinai with the glory of God upon him and with a New Covenant from God. The glory was so strong upon him that he had to cover his face with a veil. God reiterates His commandments to the Israelites on how they are to obey and honor Him.
Exodus 35 – Moses shares God’s orders and rules keeping the Sabbath holy and His specifications in building The Tent of Meeting. God chooses the men who are to lead the building of the Tent of Meeting and fills them with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.

    Bible Summary Day 29
Exodus 30: Altar of incense represent the son of God in his nature and the incense burned thereon typified his pleading for his people. It also teaches us daily to attend upon God, daily to renew our repentance for sin and our looking to the blood of Christ for remission for in many things we daily offend.
Exodus 31: Let each mind his proper diligently remembering that whatever wisdom anyone possessed, the Lord put it in the heart, to do his commandments. The Hebrew word Sabbath signifies rest, therefore the moral obligation of the Sabbath must continue. Finally the law was written in tables of stone to show how lasting it is.
Exodus 32: Shows the power of prayers. In answer to the prayers of Moses, God showed his purpose of sparing the people. The works of is to show people the greatness of their sins.

  • Ria Reads Exodus 29
The opening and close of the chapter hints at the purpose of these requirements. And that is for the priests to be set apart to minister unto the Lord and ultimately for the Lord to come and dwell among His people and speak with them. It is really about preparation for God to meet with His people.
And so the chapter begins with instructions for setting apart Aaron and his sons to minister to the Lord as priests as well as the items needed for the process: a bull, 2 rams and various types of unleavened bread. Aaron and his sons are to be washed with water, dressed in the priestly garments, and then anointed so that they can be consecrated later.
A series of sacrifices and offerings then follow with instructions on how to perform them including the sacrifice of the bull which is used as a sin offering to consecrate and sanctify the altar. And two rams, one of which is a ram of consecration and is used to consecrate Aaron and his sons and their priestly garments. The unleavened bread is also presented as an offering along with parts of the second ram.
Two daily sacrifices are also set up – the sin offering and the burnt offering, which is done in the morning and the evening. However, at the end of this long list of sacrifices and offerings, we see that it is actually God Himself who does the sanctifying. He is the One who sanctifies the tabernacle, the altar and Aaron and his sons.
The chapter concludes with God’s promise to come and dwell with the people, meeting and speaking with them so that they would know that He is the Lord their God that brought them from Egypt so that He could be with them. It is a beautiful chapter foreshadowing that through Jesus Christ, the ultimate sacrifice and offering, we are sanctified through His blood and thus have the promise that God’s presence would be with us.

Ex 26—God gives very detailed instructions on the layout of the Tabernacle, listing each item that was to be included, the type of linen and colors of the curtains, the length and width, how it was to be displayed in each section. He left nothing to the speculation of man. They were to follow the instructions according to the plans shown on the mountain.
Ex 27: Continues with the structure of the Tabernacle and what was to be included in the layout.  An altar for burnt offerings were made of acacia wood and utensils of bronze.  The plans also included a courtyard
Ex 28:  Aaron and his sons are called to serve as priests.  Special garments were made for them which included a breastpiece, an ephod, robe, a woven tunic and a sash. The names of the children of Israel were engraved on two stones, six on each according to birth order, and placed on the breastpiece for making decisions.  This would serve as a memorial to the Lord as Aaron entered the Holy Place.
