Summary of Isa 58-60

 

Chp 58

Speaks about true fasting. It talks about how they were just going through the motions of fasting ---  but yet doing what they wanted to do, that their hearts were not in it. It was only the appearance of righteousness.   They did not honor Him with their hearts.  Honoring God is doing what’s on His heart, like feeding the hungry, providing shelter and clothing for the poor and the widow.

By fasting the body learns to obey the soul, by praying the soul learns to command the body –William Secker

 

Chp 59 Separation from God --- it is sin that separates us from God

Speaks about the Lord’s hand is not too short that He cannot save, that he cannot hear but wickedness and sin separate us from God

 The phrase “the Lord's hand is not shortened” in verse 1 means that the Lord's power to save has not decrease

God is always available and fully capable of helping His people. God never moves away from His people; they move away from Him.

 Whenever we feel distance from God, it is up to us to repent of our sins and return back to Him because He is at the same place where we previously left off. Awaiting with open arms..

Chp 60

The  future Glory of Zion it starts with Arise and shine for their light has come. It refers to coming out of a spiritual depression into a new life. It speaks about how the Lord will rise upon Jerusalem and His glory will be seen. It speaks about how nations will come to them and kings drawn to the brightness of their rising. They will be radiant and rejoicing. Foreigners will build up their walls and their kings will serve them. In His wrath he struck them but, in his favor, and grace He had compassion on them.

Arise and shine, God is saying get up from that dark place that the enemy takes us to at times.  He reminds us that He is light and hope.   Light and darkness cannot exist in the same place at the same time.  It’s either or.  When we focus on God and who we are in Him and His promises, it brings us out of dark places.

Isaiah 55

This chapter is loaded with soothing words from the Lord. He calls the thirsty to come for a drink . The poor for unquantifiable supply at no cost.

The faithfulness of the Lord is eternal . He is ready to make promises with the Israel as he did with David.

God has beautiful plans for his people awesome plans their minds couldn't ever imagine.

Lessons

God is waiting for you and I to surrender all to Him. He is able to do all He has promised us. He's ready to give us beauty for ashes ,gladness for mourning .

Isaiah 56

God is a righteous and holy God. He wants his people to do what is right . He says , blessed is the man who does this, who keeps the Sabbath who keeps his hands from doing any evil .

The Lord is a just God. He promised to bless the foreigners, the eunuchs who live in righteousness.

He is an impartial judge. He will reward everyone's action no matter their place in the society.

Lessons

Our God cannot be mocked or deceived . We will all be judged according to our works. This will happen even now on this planet and also after when we depart in death.

Isaiah 57

This chapter speaks of God's anger on Israel . They are persecuting the righteous . Since they have forsaken God they see anyone who is not sinful like them as a misfit . They are ignorant of what beauty awaits those who love the Lord. ' The righteous are taken away to be spared of evil '

God also reprove them through Isaiah of their spiritual adultery. They have gone whoring after other gods .

Finally , God expresses His affection to those who are lowly in spirit . Those who humble themselves before him .He expects repentance from his people Israel and will save them if they could come to him.

Lessons

Some things might happen to us as believers and we might not understand why but they are all in our favour.

Also , no matter how grievous is our sins , the Lord is waiting for us to humble ourselves before Him and repent.

Isaiah 52 The restoration of Jerusalem, and the coming of the Lord and Israel’s return to Zion. Chapter 53 talks about the suffering servant, who will be exalted that he will encounter suffering and rejection. He will be the atonement for sin, and he will be resurrected. Chapter 54 the glorious future, the restoration of Jerusalem and the Lord’s everlasting kindness towards his people.

Chapter 49

written from the Servant's point of view, is an account of his pre-natal calling by God to lead both Israel and the nations. The Servant is now portrayed as the prophet of the Lord equipped and called to restore the nation to God. Yet, anticipating the fourth song, he is without success.

lessons

God had prescribed how Israel should act in the world in order to be a light to the world. But they didn't fulfill that prescription. So, God sent his own Son to do exactly what Israel had not done. He fulfilled all those prophecies, so that the work of saving the world might be accomplished.

Chapter 50

Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God. But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze.

lesson

God is saying that he sent the Israelites away into exile because they did not obey him. That is why God is no longer there to keep Zion city safe. Zion is like a 'mother' for the Israelites. It is as if God has sent her away.

Chapter 51

When God lights the candle of faith, none can blow it out. God reminds his people in tribulation that he is faithful to his promise. The Christian may justly say, “I can trust him in my present condition, and I can trust him for the time to come.” Because the Lord is God, and my God, I can rejoice in tribulation.

lesson

The price paid by the Redeemer forget our salvation, was not silver or gold, or corruptible things, but his own precious blood. Considering the freeness of this salvation, and how hurtful to temporal comfort sins are, we shall more value the redemption which is in Christ.

45 Cyrus is gods anointed. Chapter 46 the fall of Babylon. Chapter 47. The servant of the Lord chapter 48 the restoration of Jerusalem.

As Israel remembers the foolishness of making and worshipping idols, it should inspire greater trust and confidence in God. When we think about the alternatives to following the LORD, it should make us follow Him all the more closely. Because God is the First and the Last, He lives outside our time-domain and can proclaim things before they happen. He can proclaim the things that are coming and shall come. This shows God really is who He says He is. The LORD makes us know through this whole passage, and in these verses to be the Redeemer, the Creator of each person, the Creator of all things (who makes all things), wiser and greater than anyone.

Isaiah 39-41

Summary: He’s our comfort and redemption from the Lord. The coming of Christ is good news. He redeems us and his people. Patience and waiting on the future glory of Christ to be revealed and the promise of strength during our trials and tribulations past and future.

Ch. 41

Summary: God will strengthen us and help us. He will uphold us with his righteous hand. Hod can take things and turn the around for His good and for our blessing. We can ALWAYS turn to God for help.

Summar Isa 36-38

Chp 36

Sennacherib king of Assyria sends threats against Jerusalem.  Chp 37 Hezekiah  seeks Isaiah’s help regarding seeking the Lord for deliverance of Jerusalem Ch 38 Hezekiah becomes extremely ill, turn to the Lord and recovers

Isaiah 32

The prophecy about the coming of the righteous king.

No longer will the wrong people be in power because He will rule with righteousness and peace.

Returning to the Jerusalem of his own time,Isaiah announces that the upper class women who live luxuriously will suddenly find themselves poor. The vineyards that provide them with a constant supply of wine will be destroyed, and the city where they find their pleasure will be smashed to ruins.

Only after the removal of all these evils does the ideal age begin. This age is characterized by justice and righteousness, because the people have God’s Spirit poured out upon them. The result is peace, safety, joy, freedom and prosperity such as people have never known before.

Lessons

Only in the second coming of Jesus Christ will there be righteous rule.

Isaiah 33

God hate those who destroy ,betray ,slander others . God's people are to be people of integrity.

Following are words of prayer and thanks to the Lord.

'Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress. At the uproar of your army, the peoples flee; when you rise up, nations flee...'

Isaiah 34

The Chapter started with pronouncements of God's judgement on nations that disobey God. Edom a nation that is an enemy of God will be made desolate .

Isaiah 35

The chapter talks about the redemption day of God's people.

The desert will blossom 🌸say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”

Isaiah 28 woe to Ephraim and Jerusalem, Isaiah 29 world to Jerusalem, Isaiah chapter 30 Futile confidence in Egypt and a rebellious people Isaiah 28 woe to Ephraim and Jerusalem, Isaiah 29 world to Jerusalem, Isaiah chapter 30 feudal confidence in Egypt and a rebellion. Yes people.
