    Ch. 9
But there'll be no darkness for those who were in trouble. Earlier he did bring the lands of Zebulun and Naphtali into disrepute but the time is coming when he'll make that whole area glorious. For to us a child is born and to us a son is given that will usher in justice and righteousness forever. They were infected with wickedness. They shall be in trouble and see no way out. And men ways displeases God. He even makes their friends to be at war with them.
Summary: God seeks his sinful people. Jesus becomes our shining light of the world but men loves the darkness. God becomes angry with us because we don't seek Him.
    Ch. 10
Who legislates evil is doomed. Who makes the laws that make victims. Laws that make misery for the poor. Exploiting defendless widows and taking advantage of homeless children. What will you have to say on Judgement Day? God is still angry. Assyria is doomed. Assyria is to be stripped clean and rob them blind. But Assyria has another agenda. He's out to destroy as many nations has he can. So whats topping me from destroying Jersusalem the same way that I destroyed Samaria and all of her god idols. Now God says that its time for Assyria to be punished.
Summary: This isthe destruction of the wicked but God is restoring hope to the people during challenging times.
    Ch.11
A shoot shall come out of the stock of Jesse and a branch shall grow out of his roots. A king shall proceed from the son of Jesse. The life-giving Spirit of God will hover over him, the Spirit that brings wisdom and understanding, The Spirit that gives dirrection and builds strength, the Spirit that instills knowledge and Fear-God. Fear-God. He won't judge by appearences, won't decide on the basis on the hearsay. This child shall bear fruit, glorify God and give life to all who look upon Him in faith. God speaking thru Isaiah tells the people of Judah that he is tired of the useless sacrifices and the refusing turn away of their sins.
    Summary: The Messiah is coming.
    Ch.12
And you will say in that day, I thank you God. You were angry but your anger wasn't forever. You withdrew your anger and moved in and comforted me. Yes, indeed God is my salvation. I trust, I won't be afraid. God yes! is my strength and song, best of all my salvation. Joyfully you'll pull up buckets of water from the wells of salvation. And as you do it you'll say, Give thanks to God. Call out his name. Ask Him anything! Shout to the natioins, tell them what he's done, spread the news of his great reputation! Sing praise song to God. He's done it all.
Israel can trust God and not be afraid. Anger is gone and He is our
    Peace.
Summary: Pray that God gives us salvation to know Him, to walk with Him and to satisified with Him. Praise God for His great work in our lives. Sing praises before the Lord.

  • Elonda’s Summary of Isa 5-8
    Summary Isa 5-8
    Chp 5
    Parable of the vineyard
Isaiah singing a song to the Lord speaking in a parable.  He is comparing God’s chosen people, the tribe of Judah to a vineyard. He asks the questions what more could have been done for the vineyard because it yielded only bad grapes. He speaks about  hedge of protection will be taken away, and destructions will come upon them because of their rebellious ways. A drought will be experienced because there will be no rain.  This is the result of when the Lord looked for justice but only saw bloodshed and for righteousness he only heard distress.
    Woes for the wicked
The chp concludes with talking about the sorrow and distress that will come upon the wicked because of their sinful and rebellious ways.

  • Ifeoluwa’s Summary of Isa 1-4
    Isaiah 1
The Lord spoke and revealed Himself to Isaiah. God said that He had chosen the people of Israel, but they did not see Him or accept Him as their master. God felt that the children of Israel had become wicked and they were rebelling against Him. He said they had become corrupt in body and soul.
The Lord said there would be a day of redemption for the city of Jerusalem, but it would only come about if those in the city sought true forgiveness and tried to change their life for the better. This was the only path to true righteousness and to make the city and its people a great nation once again.
    Isaiah 2
God who has had his fill of man’s pride; God who is determined to re-establish visibly the splendor of His majesty and His rightful exalted position as the Preeminent one. He will not tolerate man’s pride forever. There comes a point where the day of man is doomed and God will have His day. The coming day of the Lord will demonstrate fully His terror and the splendor of His majesty in a fearsome sense to those who have an outward show of religion but have wrongly exalted themselves over God.
God’s people had been called to a life of holiness; a life of separation; they were to be a peculiar people with a testimony that would bring light to the Gentile nations; yet they were living like the pagans around them. They didn’t impact their culture for God. They were corrupted by the worldly value system around them. There are many parallels between the situation of corrupt Jerusalem here and the current situation of corrupt Christendom in our day. How is it that the church looks so much like the world? How is it that the church has become so man-centered rather than God-centered?
    Isaiah 3
The prophet, in this chapter, goes on to foretel the desolations that were coming upon Judah and Jerusalem for their sins, both that by the Babylonians and that which completed their ruin by the Romans, with some of the grounds of God's controversy with them. God threatens,
I :To deprive them of all the supports both of their life and of their government (v. 1-3).
2: To leave them to fall into confusion and disorder
3:To strip the daughters of Zion of their ornaments. To lay all waste by the sword of war (v. 25, 26).
The sins that provoked God to deal thus with them were,
    A: Their defiance of God (v. 8).
    B: Their impudence (v. 9).
C: The abuse of power to oppression and tyranny (v. 12-15).
D:The pride of the daughters of Zion (v. 16).
    Isaiah 4
The Lord promised the redemption of the Israelites . He will wash away the filth of the women of Zion .
    Lessons :
God demands repentance from us . He is ready to forgive us our sins if only we will repent and commit to Him.

  • Raphael’s Summary of 2 Kings 29-22
    2 King chapter 20
When Hezekiah grows sick and near death, Isaiah comes to him and tells him that God says it's his time to die. Hezekiah weeps and prays to God, asking him to remember Hezekiah's service and faithfulness. God sends a message to Isaiah, saying that he'll add fifteen years onto Hezekiah's life.
    Lesson
teaches an important life lesson: actions have consequences. “Repent! Sin will incur judgment,” God warned in effect through the prophets. Israel and Judah learned the hard way that God means what He says.
    Chapter 21
When Amon dies, his son (also Amon) takes over and leads the people in the same wicked deeds. He starts reigning when he's twenty-two years old, and reigns for two years. A group of conspirators kill Amon Jr., but the people kill the conspirators too and make Amon's other son Josiah their new king.
    Lessons.
The following truths were identified in today's lesson: If we make evil choices, then our actions can lead others to sin. If we make righteous choices, then our actions can lead others to turn to the Lord. Studying the scriptures can help us turn to the Lord with all our heart and put away evil influences.
    Chapter 22
Josiah reigns in righteousness in Judah—Hilkiah repairs the temple and finds the book of the law—Josiah sorrows because of the wickedness of his fathers—Huldah prophesies wrath upon the people but blessings upon Josiah.
    Lessons
Repentance plays an important role in God's plan for saving man. Jesus said that unless one repents, he will perish (Lk 13:3, 5). Before Peter told the crowd at Pentecost that they needed to be baptized, he told them to repent (Acts 2:38).

  • Ifeoluwa’s Summary 2 Kings 4-7
    2kings 4
Elisha was a great man of God. The chapter opens with the story of a woman the wife of one of the prophets.
The late husband was having alot of creditors who were planning to take the two sons as slaves. A miracle was performed by Elisha the prophet. Jars of oil came out of jars filled with water. Thereafter , part of the oil was used to pay back the creditors.
Also a shunamite woman was provided with a son. She and the husband provided a place of abode for Elisha. Later that boy fell ill and died mysteriously. But he was restored to life by Elisha again.
In another story ,Elisha made a food free and safe from poison.
Finally a hundred people was fed with twenty loaves of barley bread. That was a miraculous provision.
    Lessons
Elisha was a man of authority. As believers we should walk with God with great devotion . When we do this we become men and women of authority.
God wants to use us to make a difference in our generation . We need to grow in faith and fellowship with God..
    2kings 5
Naaman the commander in the army of Aram was a leper. He on one of his campaigns had raided an Israeli village where he took a girl that was his servant.
This girl told him about Elisha and urged him to meet him for a healing.
Naaman later left for Israel and was given instructions by Elisha to take a bath seven times in the river Jordan.
At first he felt offended and mentioned that there were better rivers in his nation if he needed a bath. Meanwhile the girl servant from Israel persuaded him to obey . Afterwards he was healed and he brought gifts to Elisha
Prophet Elisha didn't accept the gift . Then Naaman took sands from Israel to use as a platform to worship God.
Gehazi was not happy with his master as he had not accepted the clothings and sliver brought to him. So Gehazi went after Naaman and took the gift lying that his master needed them.
On getting back to the house. Elisha reproved Gehazi and all the while he was seeing what Gehazi was doing (he being a grea prophet ) .
Elisha then cursed Gehazi that he will be leprous with his generation.
    Lessons
Learning from the story of Naaman , teaches that we should not commonize God's instructions. It might not make sense to us but we should be obedient.
Gehazi allowed greed to destroy him. We should run away from greed and out on the cloak of contentment .
    2kings 6&7
Chapter six opened with the story and the company of prophets and how they needed a bigger place of meeting. As they were cutting down trees on the new place an ax fell into the water . Elisha cut a stick and dropped it in the water and the ax miraculously floated .
Meanwhile there was a plot by the Aramean king to capture the king of Israel . But Elisha revealed that plan to the king of Israel . Then the king of Aram was told about Elisha. Hey then sent soldiers to capture him. The soldiers were blindfolded miraculously by Elisha and led to the king of Israel. Elisha asked them to be fed and they made it back to Aram unscathed .
In another story , the king of Aram came with a large army and besieged Samaria the capital of Israel kingdom . So that there was a great famine in the land. People resorted to cannibalism to survive. Later the king of Israel heard a disturbing story of this and sent men to kill Elisha.
Then Elisha made a proclamation that the famine would end. It happened that some lepers discovered the deserted camp of the Arameans .
They had fled thinking an army was coming to attack them .
Therefore the prophet Elisha words came to fulfilment. A certain man who was close to the king of Israel had doubted Elisha . He also met his demise according to the words of Elisha .
    Lessons
As it was displayed by Elisha , the power of God is great and greater than any challenges we might be facing. We should believe and have a strong faith in God.
