Today, we start with a plethora of technical difficulties. And the Phillies seem to have the front office figured out now as Sam Fuld has been named GM under Dave Dombrowski. Along with a few others climbing the ranks. The JT Realmuto talk continues with some interesting takes. And the Padres kick it into overdrive trading for Blake Snell and now tonight, Yu Darvish. There are a lot of middle-inflielders up for grabs through free agency and trades. But realistically, will we see any of these guys in red pinstripes in 2021? We won’t know for certain until after the New Year. Probably. We also want to give a huge shoutout to Bryson Stott for his Las Vegas hometown charity for six high school student athletes! Especially in these tough times. Enjoy, and Play Ball!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. This one is a short pod with virtually no baseball or Phillies news circulating. But! We have some content for you with JT interest coming from more teams and our list of free agent catchers that will significantly drop-off in talent if we do not sign JT. So Phillies, sign JT please. Since our last pod, Brandon got a new job, so he's got that going for him, which is nice. And we list our top 5 favorite Christmas movies along with some honorable mentions. Including, yes, Die Hard... Enjoy, and PLAY BALL!
We start today’s pod with the Dombrowski presser and guess what, we actually like the guy. He has an old school, winning mentality that he will bring to the Phillies. The NY Sewer Rats sign James McCann to a 4 year, $40mil deal making it much easier for the Phillies to sign JT. And we talk about a possible JT deal that will most likely happen late in the offseason. Joe Girardi has a presser as well and he describes the Phillies hitting and pitching just like 2020 has been for the rest of us. Finally, Alex made a list of free agent and trade candidate pitchers that we go through like a hot mess. Only 63 days left until pitchers and catchers report. Enjoy, and PLAY BALL!!!
Our first ever emergency pod! The Phillies do something out of character for this off-season and hire Dave Dombrowski. We give our first impressions and quickly cover his career accomplishments...so far. It is a quickie as we hope for more news to come from his press conference so we can talk more about this hiring on Sunday's pod along with some other off-season news and thoughts. Enjoy, and PLAY BALL!!!
On today’s pod, We start with the garbage coming from Buster Olney at ESPN saying the Phillies are looking to trade Zach Wheeler. The Phillies still haven't found a new GM or President of Baseball operations but have candidates in Michael Hill and Josh Byrnes. The Phillies finally do something as they make offers to players eligible for arbitration AND Jean Segura is now in trade talks. Investors? Possibly you! We continue free agent and trade talk diving deeper into our outfield needs. I come up with some Mike Trout trade packages which causes Alex to drink even more. But don't worry, we would also like to let everyone know that the end of this long and grueling offseason is in sight with 71 days left until Pitchers and Catchers report. Play Ball, and enjoy!
On today’s pod, we get right back in the thick of things after Alex's busy work week and Brandon being sick. We went golfing and Brandon still sucks. Shoutout Golden Oaks Golf Course! We talk a little Sixers as it seems like they are the only bright spot in Philly sports right now with all the moves they’ve been making with Daryl Morey as the new GM. Caleb Cotham is the new pitching coach and we welcome it. We talk about the dreadful Phillies GM and President talk while also having fun and diving into prospect talk and drooling over the thought of 2021 minor league baseball. And we end by discussing a hypothetical trade for Francisco Lindor who we think the Phillies should just be patient for since we don’t trust that they will sign him to a long-term contract right away among other things. Enjoy, and PLAY BALL!
BIG, BIG news for you in this one. And it’s a short one, so stick it out til the end and you won’t regret it. We're Super Cereal about the big news. Can't stress that enough. In other, non-exciting news, Alec Bohm misses out on the Rookie of the Year award to Devin Williams of the Brewers. Although it was well deserved for him as well. We also discuss other award winners like the robot lover Kevin Cash and Covid King Don Mattingly winning AL and NL Manager of the Year, along with Cy Young winners Trevor Bauer and Shane Bieber. 96 days until pitchers and catchers report and we can’t wait to see what the dumpster fire Phillies front office does in the offseason now that we know who the free agents are. Enjoy, and PLAY BALL!!!
We make the most of what little content we have to go off of. We start by giving praise to Alec Bohm as we give our picks for Rookie of the Year. We also talk about two previous Phillies winning a Gold Glove with Cesar Hernandez and JP Crawford. Klentank and MacFail come up again during the pod as we discuss more of their terrible moves during their tenure and how they both need to leave. A real leader goes into power up north with Steve Cohen and the stupid Mets and immediately cleans house…….Middleton, take notes. We get into where the Phillies stand going into 2021 in the NL East and how they can make a move to improve. We end with agreeing with Joe Girardi that the three batter minimum rule is the dumbest rule the MLB has put into place. Enjoy, and Play Ball! That said, we need some mailbag questions everyone. Tell your friends and family we are looking for a baseball and non-baseball related question so we can have some fun answering them on our next episode. Send your questions to [email protected]. Thank you all!
First and foremost. JOJO ROMERO gives us a sugar-free shout out from one of our last Instagram posts about the Phillie we would like to be stranded on an island with the most. Secondly, short-ish episode today. We talk mostly news within the Phillies' Organization. Clearing waivers, waiver claims, free agents, the Cliff Lee story. AND, Mick Abel along with some other young prospects turn heads in the Instructional League. While at the same time, the MacPhail train keeps on chugging. We both share our All MLB votes and, SPOILER ALERT, some may seem shocking. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!
Today, we start by congratulating the Dodgers on their asterisk World Series victory against the Rays. Blake Snell was dealing last night but Gabe Kapler, rather Kevin Cash gets cucked by his analytics and pulls him in the 6th inning leading to the go-ahead run by the Dodgers. Justin Turner tests positive for Covid and might destroy the two best teams in baseball...or not. And we talk about some moves the Phillies are making as we speak. JT and DIDI are officially Free Agents now that the World Series is over. We discuss some hot takes and what the best case scenario would be with getting them both back. As well as signing a new GM along with Trever Bauer. We also have a new mailbag full of questions and we have a good ol’ time answering those as we try to figure out where our friendship began. Keep the baseball and non-baseball related questions coming to [email protected]. Enjoy, and PLAY BALL!!!
