This episode gets a little wild by the end but we start by talking about the World Series and recent Phillies news. We have ourselves a Rays vs Dodgers series which is David vs Goliath. We give our takes and our predictions on that series and also touch upon another Georgia based sports team not being able to hold a lead. The Phillies have another important person in the organization to replace on top of their current GM search. We get on the topic of JT Realmuto again and go back and forth on if we think he is the catcher of the future especially with payroll shrinking because of the pandemic. Also, for our listeners we would like you to email us a baseball and non baseball related question at [email protected] for our mailbag next episode. Enjoy. And PLAY BALL!
Today is Joe Girardi’s birthday! So we show him some love. We were also listed at number 7 on a website that rates blogs and podcasts so we got that going for us. It is officially the offseason for the Phillies and there is lots to talk about from the Phils instructional league starting to what moves the Phillies need to make to be a better team next season. There are just 125 days until pitchers and catchers report and there are a lot of free agents on the market and we take some time to discuss what some of the better options might be. Specifically, best case scenario with keeping JT and Didi for the long-term and also pitching, which we think we can all agree is equally or more important. We talk a little about the playoffs although we have both lost some interest in baseball now that the Phillies are not a part of it. Enjoy. And Play Ball!
Bad Things Happen In Philadelphia. Matt Klentak is STILL with the Phillies and Scott O’Neil is still employed by the Sixers. We have a packed episode today as we give a rundown of the 2020 season stats and payroll availability for potential signings for next season. We talk about our free agents like JT and Didi as well as some John Middleton presser quotes about talent evaluation and the Sixto JT trade. As we mentioned, Matt Klentak is NOT gone, but he has stepped down from the GM position with the team. Although we do determine that everything he has done and said about making the Phillies better has been a lie. We discuss our MVPs and breakout player predictions from the beginning of the season and ultimately determine who the clear cut winners were/should be. We have lots more to cover in future offseason episodes so stay tuned! Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!
The Final Hunt. We do everything we can to avoid talking about game 2 & 3 of the nationals series so we don't get as mad and crazy as John Kruk. Game 4 was much better as they leave Washington with a win but also are on the outside looking in on the playoff race. We give our input on the Rookie of the year (ROY) race with our completely unbiased review on why Alec Bohm should be the clear cut winner. Brandon states the obvious on what needs to happen this weekend and we talk about where the Phillies stand in the playoff race and the Last series of the Season against the Tampa Bay Rays. It is coming down to the wire folks. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!
We have a long stretch of games to cover in this one so get your popcorn ready! The Phillies sweep their first Double Header since September 2012. Zach Eflin throws a Complete Game Shutout and the kids got to play over the weekend. The Bullpen pitches well for the first time in what seems like an eternity...other than Heath Hembree almost killing Vlad Jr. with a wild pitch. We go over teams that scare us, projected playoff picture, and the NL East. There are only 7 games left after tonight and we’re right there along with you so stay strong! Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!
Not much to talk about in this one, but we do get more into the injury bug going around the Phillies. We hear about a nice little call-up we are excited for, AND he made an appearance in tonight's game as a pinch runner! Brandon does his best Jojo can crushing impression. Oh, and we take advantage of this beautiful day and went golfing today! Zach Wheeler’s disgusting nail is a part of the injury bug, but he got the start today and pitched very well as Alex and I watch game 2 of the Mets series live during this episode. SPOILER ALERT...they blew it again. We talk about the NL East standings, the road ahead, and how it feels like ping pong with the Marlins for the number 2 spot in the East. Enjoy...and Play Ball!
We start off today’s episode blaming each other for this shit-show of a Marlins series because of our superstitions. It’s been a bad week for Philly sports, but with all the bad, we talk about a couple bright spots for the Phillies in Bohm, Nola, and Haseley. We put on our big boy pants without breaking any nails. And we declare Sixto Sanchez as our new daddy and ask that the injury bug fuck off anytime now. Enjoy...And PLAY BALL!
Badda Bing, Badda Bohm. Tonight we switch the venue up a little while we record for the very first time on Alex’s front porch as The Hot-Take Train Gang. We have a special surprise for everyone in this episode as we bring on Shane McMahon as THE first guest in the history of our Podcast. We haven’t seen or talked to him in a hot minute, but we get some laughs and some much needed optimism for the Phils’ road trip to Miami. We talk the extra innings game 4 win of the Mets series, Segura and Bohm’s clutch genes, too many home runs given up, and bad pitching to say the least. We take a look at the NL East standings and try to figure out what needs to happen in Miami for the Phillies' offense and stay hot on the Brave’s trail. Enjoy...and Play Ball!
Today on the pod, we discuss the last 5 games including the sweep on the Nats #Natitude. And we talk about how much we hate those stupid New York Sewer Mets and Shiti Field. We also bring up the crushing Flyers loss to the Islanders and agree that the blue and orange color combo is vomit inducing. We wrap things up with the NL East standings and call out the garbage sports media that Lebron has wrapped around his finger. Enjoy...and Play Ball!
