The kingdom of God begins in a garden, while cities are depicted as centers and symbols of rebellion and pride. The first city is built by Cain, succeeded by Babel, Sodom, Nineveh, even Jerusalem. Yet God calls us to seek the peace of the cities we live in…and He himself has a city, the New Jerusalem.
