The firms will need to respond to the shock by reassessing security-related risks and changes in the structure of supply chains. Since the capital is in place and wage differentials across countries exist, it is possible to absorb the shock and create a gradual change. It will probably affect different product categories and segments differently. This whole process however may not be able to drive a reversal of globalization, which can only happen if it is supported by pronounced government intervention.
