In a speech earlier today, just days before the one-year anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia would be pulling out of the New START nuclear arms treaty it had with the United States, in which both countries had previously agreed to limit and reduce their nuclear arsenals and allow inspection of each other’s nuclear sites. On the other side, in Poland, President Joe Biden spoke to the Polish people and the rest of the world, challenging Putin to "end the war." Biden delivered that warning from Warsaw, Poland, nearly a year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and a day after making a surprise visit to Ukraine.
