Hundreds of people have been killed in Israel and the Gaza Strip after Hamas launched a violent and deadly attack on Israel. The Israeli government has responded with airstrikes and declared a state of war. CBS News senior foreign correspondent Holly Williams reports.

Hundreds of Israelis and Palestinians are dead and wounded after a weekend of violence. CBS News correspondent Imtiaz Tyab speaks with Gal Levy, an Israeli man who was shot in both legs by a Hamas gunman at a music festival.

The Biden administration is sending military ships and fighter jets to the Middle East to support Israel after a weekend of violence. President Biden said the administration's support for Israel's security is "rock solid and unwavering." CBS News' Weijia Jiang reports from the White House.

Jon Finer, deputy national security adviser for the Biden administration, joins "CBS Mornings" to discuss Hamas' surprise attack on Israel. He said Iran is "broadly complicit" in Hamas' assault and that he expects the situation regarding hostages in the conflict "to take on increasing focus" in the coming days.

Former Bush administration foreign policy adviser Dan Senor joins "CBS Mornings" to discuss the long-term implications of Hamas' attack on Israel. He said that in terms of population, the attack is equivalent to seven Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Bodybuilder, actor and bestselling author Arnold Schwarzenegger joins "CBS Mornings" to discuss his new book, "Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life," and the importance of setting big goals in life. The motivational book takes readers on a tour through the toolkit Schwarzenegger has lived by for over 60 years.

Legendary rock star Melissa Etheridge tells "CBS Mornings" she finds "great healing" in sharing deeply personal stories in her new memoir, "Talking to My Angels," as well as on her new Broadway show, "Melissa Etheridge: My Window."

Rich Paul, the founder and CEO of Klutch Sports Group, which represents athletes like LeBron James, joined "CBS Mornings" to discuss his new memoir "Lucky Me." Paul talked about his relationship with Adele and the "hard truths" described in his book.
