Today we talk about where our Christmas traditions come from, eggnog, and the sad story of Laci Peterson. We throwback the super cute Moon Dreamer dolls and making your own greeting cards in The Print Shop on your old school 80s computer. The super nerd I am, I also used to make my own writing stationery. Find us on Instagram and don't forget to write in with creepy stories or awesome throwbacks at [email protected].
Today we talk about one of the inspirations for Bram Stoker's Dracula...Elizabeth Bathroy, aka the "Blood Countess". We also shed some light on those seemingly innocent nursery rhymes we sang as kids and probably recite to our own offspring now. Our throwbacks include the gross Garbage Pail Kids, and a rival to Barbie, Maxie. Find us on Instagram and write to us at [email protected]!
Would you sign up for an experimental role playing trial? How do you think you'd act when given authority over others...or maybe with all privileges stripped away, but all in the name of science? On another note...wanna go somewhere haunted? Today we look at the Stanford Prison Experiment and then take a trip across the pond to 50 Berkley Square, London's most notoriously haunted houses. Our throwbacks are the card selling ads at the back of comics, pacifier necklaces and good old commercial jingles. Find us on the 'gram and write in with your haunting tales and tubular throwbacks at [email protected]
It's spooky season! It's the time of year that podcasts like ours get to break out all the creepy. For this episode we get a little historical, a little murdery, and a little weird...all the things you want in a Halloween episode. You'll get the history of trick or treating and the Jack o'Lantern, the story of a father who tried to kill his kids with candy, and some Halloween decorations based on real life. Of course we'll pepper in fun facts...because fun facts are fun, bing! Our throw backs include Hostess chips and Cabbage Patch Dolls. We hope you enjoy! Find us on Instagram and write to us with your favourite Halloween stories and/or throwbacks to [email protected].
We're at the starting line of creepy month...October...so Megan is getting us started with some creepy doll stories. What creeps you out this time of year...or any day of the month? I take a different flight path and go into the mysterious case of plane hijacker DB Cooper. Seriously, where'd he go?! We throw back Richard Simmons, Steve Madden platform shoes, Yikes! pencils, and Laurentien pencil crayons. Find us on Instagram at @ithappenedtopod and send us your creepy tales and fun throwbacks to [email protected]!
First we start with the ultimate girl's best friend...the Hope Diamond. It's cursed though, sooo you probably don't want it. Then we take a page out of Winifred's Sanderson's book (see what I did there? Well, you will when you listen to the episode) and talk about Grimoires. We throw back the epic boat movie Titanic, and then realize the better Leo movie is actually Romeo and Juliet. We also go back to our childhood with some "hand songs". You know the ones you sing when you clap hands with a friend or two? Find us on Instagram and write to us with your creepy stories at [email protected].
Today's inspirations come from back to school season and the show House Hunters International. First up, we have the story of Richard Speck and his crimes against a house of student nurses. Next, the origin of Stockholm Syndrome, inspired by my recent bingeing of House Hunters...everyone is moving to Stockholm! We throwback Donkey Kong, the Skip-It, Keypers, and The Secret World of Alex Mack. I would also like to make it known that I say "Gordon Joseph Levitt", but I know that his name is JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT, how dare I! I apologize, it was a week, I have failed my pop culture comrades. Any ways, write in with your creepy stories and throwbacks to [email protected].
If you've ever considered sending your offspring to an overnight camp, you may want to listen to this episode first. Samsies with finding a random barrel in the middle of nowhere, it might be a killing kit. Today we talk about summer camp disasters and the crimes of Israel Keyes...the serial killer you've never heard of. We throw back Lip Smackers, did you ever eat them? And Stir-up pants, I always wanted them but never did. There's also a bonus throwback that you might remember if you went to school in the Durham Region...Island, A Game of Survival! Aka my favourite computer game in my elementary school days. Send us your throwbacks and creepy tales to [email protected]!
First we take you on a journey to a truly unique haunted mausoleum full of various symbolisms and history. Next, we go on a summer inspired adventure to a doomed waterpark that while many kids who grew up in the 80s and 90s have fond memories of, it also is the site of a handful of deaths. We throw back the "Pen Club" (you don't want to be member 15) and the World Book Encyclopedias (it's what we used before the internet). Send us your creepy tales or fab throw backs to [email protected].
