Today we go into the story behind the song "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam and the tragic murder of Elyse Pahler. There is a trigger warning as there is a discussion about suicide. Our throwbacks are both song related. Megan has chosen the 2001 film "Josie and Pussycats", which I have never seen...that's a little surprising. I also chose a music type thing with VH1's classic "Pop-up Video". Watching videos just isn't same without information nuggets. Write to us with your creepy tales, or something you want to throwback, at [email protected].
Do you like bad ass women? Or maybe supernatural board games are your thing? Either way, this is the podcast for you! We have the story of the real life inspiration for the bond girl in Krystyna Skarbek...super amazing! Also, everyone's favourite other world communicator, the history of the Ouija Board...complete with rules on how to use it. We throw back the Topps bubble gum juice cartons and the unforgettable show, Are You Afraid of the Dark! Find us on Instagram, or reach out to us with your creepy tales or throwbacks to [email protected].
Today we celebrate Canada Day....a week early....with some stories from across the country. Megan takes us on a ghostly train ride through a few of the provinces, and then Sarah tells of a murder mystery in historical Montreal. We also each have a bonus Jonas story! So sit back, have some poutine, and politely ask your family to leave you alone while you listen. Our throwbacks are Ebaumsworld (I dunno), and the fashion icon/7 Up logo person...Fido Dido. We hope you enjoy these homegrown stories! Afterwards make sure you throw on some Hip. Find us on Instagram, or send us your creepy tales/throwbacks at [email protected].
Remember Mischa Barton's character in The Sixth Sense? Her mom, or step-mom (I don't remember) was making her sick on purpose just so she could get attention? Well hun-bots, that's Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. If you've never heard of this before, you're in luck, I'll do some backstory on it, while Megan gets in to the bonkers story of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard. We throw back Tinkerbell makeup...not the Disney character, the stuff that came in the pink packaging...and good old Tamagotchis. Write to us with your creepy stories or throw backs at [email protected].
Do you believe we are not alone in the universe? Maybe your sibling is so unlike the rest of the family they MUST be from another planet? Today we talk about different other worldly phenomenon. Are the Men in Black real? Or just a really fun movie? Kinda maybe both. We also discuss the possibility that some of us might be decedents of aliens...or Starseeds. We also have some super fun throwbacks! Don't forget to write in some of your creepy stories and throwback ideas. Find us on Instagram or email us at [email protected].
The Romanovs were the last royal family of Russia when they were brutally executed. The Czar, Tsarina, and their children were murdered in the cellar of a house...or perhaps one of them survived. Two years later a mysterious woman surfaced with some believing she was the Grand Empress Anastasia. Today we talk about the royal Russian family, their relationship with Rasputin, and Anna Anderson, the woman believed to be Anastasia. Follow us on Instagram and don't forget to email us with your story ideas and throwbacks at [email protected]!
With the roller coaster year we've had, it's good to know there is always hope in a bad situation. Today we share three Ah-mazing survivor stories to prove that even in the most dire of situations, a person can pull through and...well....survive! Join us as we tell the heroic tales of Elizabeth Smart, Mary Vincent, and Alison Botha. These three women went through the most horrible of experiences, but came out of them with strength and hope. They help support others by sharing their experiences. At the end we share some super fun throwbacks. Did anyone else plaster their walls with faces of the hunky guys in The Big Bopper magazine?! Or maybe you styled your hair with some butterfly clips before sending a secret message to your BFF with your Casio Secret Sender! Send us your creepy/weird/crimey stories or your throwbacks to [email protected].
There's usually two sides to people's opinions of scary movies. Either you love them, or you hate them. Poltergeist is a classic scary movie (but I'm too scared to watch it), which also comes with some creepy behind the scenes stories. Curses, murder, and unfortunate events all haunt this flick. Disney on the other hand is known as "the happiest place on earth"...except sometimes it's not. Even in this magical place there is a dark side. Join us as we discuss the creepiness of Poltergeist and Disney. We also go on a tangent with throwbacks...I think it's pretty fun nostalgia! Email us your stories or throwbacks at [email protected].
