When many people think of what the preflood world looked like, they picture today’s world. But the preflood world—it was very different from today.
You see, today’s mountains, valleys, rivers, and deep seafloor didn’t exist before flood! But the flood was a catastrophic event that completely reshaped the earth’s topography as the fountains of the deep broke open and massive erosion stripped the continents bare and then redeposited that sediment. Earth’s plates shifted, forming mountains, valleys, and trenches. It was quite literally a new world after the flood.
Today’s geography reminds us of God’s judgment on sin and his mercy!
