This time on IBAITN, we come close to actually doing a bit of serious journalism as we review the recent BBC documentary 'Loaded: Lads, Mags and Mayhem'. Join us as we reflect on the documentary before discussing our own thoughts on lad culture, how we experienced it at the time, and what we believe are the component parts of the archetypal 'lad'.
'Loaded: Lads, Mags and Mayhem' is a fascinating documentary that we highly recommend all 90s enthusiasts watch, although Stu did need to be talked into watching it after being told it contained 'upsetting scenes'. At the time of episode release, you can watch it on BBC iPlayer here:https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002389y/loaded-lads-mags-and-mayhem
Also this time: Who's the most 90s wrestler! A 90s footballer falls down a lift shaft! A message from Dad of the Pod! And much, much more...

Come and meet us behind the bike sheds as we record our first episode of 2025 on the topic of secondary school life in the 90s. We're joined by brother of the pod Adam to discuss some of our personal memories about life on the other side of the school gates, as well as some more general trends and themes about this era of schooling.
Tune in to find out why Alex spent so many lunchbreaks hiding in a toilet, why Stu's first ever lesson was such a poor piece of time-tabling and just what did Adam refer to as piss-catchers?

It's time for our annual Christmas tradition at IBAITN Towers, as we welcome the other half of our podcast juggernaut, Kathryn and Dan from Now That's What I Call Bull$h!t, to discuss the Christmas number twos from the first half of the decade!
Tune in to find out which prominent music industry figure had a brief NFL career in the late 80s, and which song reached the Christmas number two spot twice (with the involvement of Dan's nemesis group Westlife), in addition to incisive debates that cut straight to the heart of the Mr Blobby / Take That battle of 1993, and the ill-fated relationship between Vanilla Ice and Madonna.
Also this time: Registration numbers being read out at football grounds! Party food! A plea for input from you the listener that doesn't come across as desperate at all! And much, much more...
You can listen to the back catalogue of Now That's What I Call Bull$h!t here, and Kathryn and Dan will be back with new episodes in the new year. Dan is back on tour with Levellers Collective in March 2025, and you can find ticket information here.

Christmas is just around the corner and we need to compile our Christmas lists. What better place to look for inspiration than the trusty Argos catalogue? Stu and Alex take a different catalogue each and pick some choice selections to share. Rather than relying solely on the audio descriptions, we really recommend you read the catalogues along with the episode so you can find Alex's 1991 catalogue HERE and Stu's 1999 one HERE.
Tune in to find out what item Alex considers to be the physical representation of 12 year old Stu, which item Alex still owns to this day, and what sporting item gets Stu searching on eBay live on air.
We also welcome Jesper and Jaan from the All Design Podcast to debate what the most 90s logo is. You can find their fantastic podcast at this address: designpodcast.org
Also this time: Teresa Stenson! Listener complaints! Another update from the masonic lodge! And much, much more!
My Teenage Diaries can be found at this link, and Teresa's beautiful handmade zines can be found here - we strongly recommend you check these out for more excellent 90s content!

Here at IBAITN HQ, Geoff is still refusing to pay for satellite TV in the office. It's something to do with the lodge's subscription to the fishing channel needing to take preference, apparently. Anyway, this sorry situation has at least prompted us to take a look at the last great terrestrial TV landmark of the 90s, as we investigate the genesis and launch of Channel 5 in March 1997.
Tune in to find out which former England rugby union captain Alex is personally linked with, which newsreader appears to have disappeared off the face of the earth, and which Channel 5 presenter scolded a crying student live on TV after they had opened their exam results (we think)?
Also this time: Alex's new mortgage! Loads of corrections! The return of the Cadbury's Fuse! And much, much more...
You can watch the full Channel 5 launch programme, along with some more content from its debut night, here

We're discussing another random UK top 40 chart from the decade this time on the pod, and our random date generator has landed on the 15th January 1991. As per we're enlisting the assistance of resident pop expert, and pod legend, Joe Barter.
Tune in to find out which hair metal icon divides opinion in the studio, which artist is Alex determined to celebrate despite Stu's initial dismissal, and just what is Joe's connection to the LA gangster rap scene of early 90s LA?

Yes, the rumours are true - the contracts have been renewed once again and we're back, back, back! And what a way to begin the fourth season of IBAITN as we turn our attentions once again to the silver screen, and pick apart our favourite movies from 1995. Join us as Alex makes the case for the defence of one of the most well known flops of the decade, Stu goes all-action with a trio of franchise belters, and the pair watch and comment on a movie they'd never before seen...(clue - the liberal use of 'Gangsta's Paradise' is the most well known aspect)

Join us as Richard talks us through his experiences, including the rise and initial demise of Midget, and all the accompanying ups and downs of being in a successful band in the 90s, before he chooses some of his cultural highlights from the decade. Tune in to find out how record company execs wooed new talent back then, what hidden TV-voice talent Richard can boast of, and just what did go wrong at the student's union in Coventry?

It's been a very long time since we discussed Formula One in depth on the podcast; after we recorded our first episode on the subject way back when, we knew there was plenty more meat on this particular bone. So we've got back on the grid to further discuss the greatest decade of top-level racing there ever was, and we were absolutely delighted to be joined by the excellent F1 YouTuber Peter Brook for the ride!
Join us for a rattle through some of our favourite talking points of the 90s, as amongst many other topics we discuss the curious case of Bertrand Gachot, issue a grovelling apology to Jean-Denis Deletraz, and find out just what SASOL and UNIMAT do when they're at home? Plus there's lots of Michael Schumacher chat, and rightly so.
Also this time: Smacks! The return of the Hi-Tec Silver Shadow! Who's the most 90s Australian (as if you couldn't guess)? And much, much more...
Peter's fantastic F1 YouTube channel can be found here, and he is on X here. We strongly suggest you check out his work - as you can tell from this chat, he's the best in the West!
