It’s All Relative

It took 27 years to find Jacob Wetterling. It turned out, it was a guy investigators suspected from almost the very beginning. No one is perfect, but why this man slipped through the investigative net needs to be looked at; because this man ended up having almost 27 years to victimize other boys.

In 1989, Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped from a farm town in Central Minnesota. His case became a catalyst for change in Child Protection and Sex Crimes law. Jacob's face became an icon for Missing Children. But, Jacob's abduction may have been preventable; not only that, but it calls into question the methodology and role of law enforcement in the search for the missing and the investigation of crimes.

12-year-old Sally Horner had been a kidnap victim of pedofile, Frank La Salle, for almost two years (1950) when her neighbor convinces her to call her family and the police. Sally's story is tragic. It also exposes the ugliness in our society, today: if not just in the past.

In 1948, 10-year-old Sally Horner is dared to steal a notebook by the school mean girls. This dare puts Sally right in the path of a pedophile who takes her on a cross-country trip in an attempt to hide their true relationship.

The ease in which convicted rapist, Frank La Salle, is able to take her from her family may make your brain boil. If anything could point out the flaws in our culture, this tale may just do it.

It has taken a lifetime for crime fighters to catch-up to the Udens, but the net closes around them both; and even though the two 'lovebirds' seem devoted to one another, Gerald eventually takes an unexpected turn--OK, maybe not THAT unexpected.

Virginia and her sons, Richard and Reagan, are still missing, and the investigation finally becomes an actual investigation. All suspicion falls on Alice and Gerald, but where is the evidence? Unless investigators find something concrete, the Udens will remain free.
