It's here! And it's FABULOUS! It's Dave's new book, "So, When Are You Going to Get a Real Job?" The boys take a 30 year road trip through the pages of Dave's early years growing up as well as his radio story and comment on the pictures and the memories. There are pictures of Dave when he first started at KOOL 98.3. There are pictures of Jerry with HAIR! Listeners share their favorite times from the summer of 2021. It's Episode One Hundred Eleven!
In the middle of those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Jerry is enjoying his pool with its saltwater filter system. Meanwhile, Dave is still waiting for his latest pool liner (the last one arrived with a hole already pre-punctured in it.) If you are in EHT and see a grown man playing in his lawn sprinklers, it's probably Dave. Listeners contribute their "perfect date nights." So put on that French Canadian speedo, fill up the kiddy pool and enjoy Episode One Hundred Ten.
The Dog Days of Summer, and the worst shore traffic we have ever seen! The good news is that a new book is available by one of your favorite people! But, besides Garrison Keillor, Dave has also released his first book, all about his radio career which goes back to the days of oceanic morse code. The boys discuss the book business and all the money you make from sales. Jerry made enough to take the family to Arby's. Look for Dave at a book signing near you!
As summer begins, Dave & Jerry discuss getting back to normal life after the pandemic. Dave was able to see his parents and siblings LIVE and IN PERSON. They had moved and did not tell him but he was able to track them down in hiding. Listeners look forward to summer nights on the boardwalk and offer what snacks they always get when they are strolling the boards and dodging the seagulls. Put on your SPF60 and jump in the kiddie pool and enjoy Episode 108!
HELP! Dave fell, and he can't get up! Getting older means sometimes you fall on your a$$ for no good reason. Dave and Jerry discuss the reality of being senior citizens ( or close to it). Listeners share what one movie they would want if stranded on a desert island (with a TV and Blue Ray player). Grab some Werther's Candies and enjoy Episode One Hundred Seven!
It's Over! The honorable Governor of New Jersey Phillip Murphy has opened all businesses and lifted most mask mandates. So, are you ready to go to a concert with 20,000 people and jump in the mosh pit? Did you throw away your masks? Most people tell Dave and Jerry they look better WITH the masks. Meanwhile listeners tell which spring and summer fresh veggies they are most looking forward to. Uh oh...Dave bought asparagus!
The joys of home ownership! Dave and Jerry discuss all the things they are spending their money on these days, and most involve home repairs and upgrades. Listeners weigh in on the things we used to do, that kids today would have no idea of how to do. These youngsters have no idea how good they have it these days! Especially since they have 105 on-demand episodes of "It's Called Pork Roll" in their pockets.
What have you been up to? Jerry is nursing sore calves after helping move one of sons out of the house and another back in. He dreads thinking of when he eventually moves out of his place, where he's been for over thirty years and how he's going to get rid of thirty years of accumluated junk. Dave smiles and is happy he's not going anywhere in the immediate future, as he's moved ten times over the last thirty years! Put away the hand truck and boxes and settle in for Episode One Hundred Four, and THANK YOU! We are now EIGHT THOUSAND downloads!!! Thats a lot of heavy lifting dead weight!
Dave and Jerry discuss Dave's pool issues and why PETA organized a protest in front of his house last week. Let's just say that the neighbors are referring to him as the "Squirrel Whisperer." Listeners chimed in on the one food they could not do without. Only one?? We know you cannot do without PORK ROLL! And of course Episode 103 of the It's Called Pork Roll with Dave and Jerry podcast.
The question we both get asked the most (besides what the heck is wrong with you guys) is what have you been doing the last four months? The answer is ... not much! Although we've been working, seeing that we are "essential workers", the radio appearances and trips are all on hold until safer times return. Dave has been working on his memoirs. Still trying to decide on a title. It's between "Master and Commander" and "Your Erogenous Zones." If this podcast episode had a title, it would probably be "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights."
