It's been said that before you even open your business, you want to consider how you're going to exit the business.  It's similar to the line about boat owners - the happiest days in a boat owner's life is when they get the boat and when they sell the boat. 

When you're in business, there are many questions about what you need to pay attention to as you begin to think about leaving your business.  What do you need to focus on? What do you need to do to get ready for a sale/transfer of your business? 

The more you can work out what you need to do to achieve your goals, the better off you'll be!
