Oh, the Baymanity!  It was Collin's pic this week, and he is determined to muscle through these Transformers movies. Maybe, just maybe, the experience is starting to wear on him a bit.  Imagine a 160 minute episode of Battlebots hosted by a sweaty, twitching Shia Labeouf, co-hosted by a bored-looking Megan Fox in a tank top doing slow motion jumping jacks,  and throw in John Turturro's bare butt in glorious HD.  Now throw up your hands every 15 minutes or so and say, "Wha...?" That's pretty much the experience.

I think we've got two more of these to go, and Collin is not going to spare me.  He actually said, "Maybe the third one will be better." Ah, the naivete of youth.  Actually, he did find this clip by the guys at How it Should Have Ended that absolutely nails the movie in 3 minutes.

My trifecta of boyhood cinematic crushes would be Lori Loughlin, Phoebe Cates, and the lead in the movie we watched this week, Elisabeth Shue.  Whether or not Shue's girl-next-door charm can keep Adventures in Babysitting from aging badly is up for debate in this episode.  I probably should have just let this one remain a fairly good movie in my memory instead of risking the revisit, but all my picks ultimately run that risk.

It's not often we get the whole family out to the movies, but we were able to swing it this week.  The kids have really been looking forward to this movie since they saw the trailer.  I, on the other hand, have been kind of dreading it.  It struck me as a total nostalgia cash grab, and I was equally worried that the product had a high change of being inferior.

We had a Halloween episode all planned out.  We even watched the movie. But life, as it will, intervened, and so we had to call another audible.

We decided we'd check out the upcoming movie slate by watching some trailers and estimating how excited we were to see the movie.  It turned out to be a pretty fun exercise, so this may become a quarterly thing we do.

The Martian got me thinking about another space rescue movie, Ron Howard's Apollo 13. This movie has long been one of my favorites, and I was curious to see how it held up for Collin.  During the discussion we talk simulated weightlessness, space bathrooms, and the Kevin Bacon game.  Also, Greta's joins us, leaves us, then joins us again to discuss games and internet trolls.
