Vanessa M. Reiser, a licensed clinical social worker, enters the ITBR to talk about her book Narcissistic Abuse: A Therapist's Guide to Identifying, Escaping, and Healing from Toxic and Manipulative People. Vanessa discusses the typical behaviors and thought patterns of narcissists, including their inability to handle criticism, their tendency to retaliate, and their desire for constant attention and validation. She advises on strategies for identifying and protecting oneself from narcissistic abuse.
She explains how narcissistic traits can enable success in certain professions like business, politics, and the military, and how this dynamic has played out in the current political climate.
