Welcome to the first episode of “The Cliff’s Edge” podcast with your host Ciaran McConnell.
Around 3:40am on the 31st August 1888, as the police whistles sounded and the crowd gathered, nobody there would or could ever imagine they were bearing witness to such a long-lasting whodunit. The discovery of Mary Ann Nichols’ body marked the first of five victims to be found in London’s Whitechapel area. The questions Who done it? Where did they go? Why did they do it? became better know as the moniker “Jack the ripper”. Since then, this terrifying case has been passed down through the generations in newspapers, books, documentaries and films.
Joining Ciaran on the podcast is Shayne Phelan. Shayne takes us back through time revealing thoughts and theories on this world infamous case.
